They stay watching each other from afar
She lays alone in her room looking at the stars
He stares at the last picture they took together
They both close their eyes and a single tear slides down each of their cheeks
He wants to lie by her side, to hear
the familiar sound of her heartbeat in his ears
She can still picture the hurt in his eyes when they had to say goodbye
She wants to run to him, to promise everything will be alright,
The sky gets darker, the night gets quieter
They both ran out the door at midnight
