I'm sitting in my room catching up on American horror story when I hear my boyfriend shriek. I pause the t.v. and walk down stairs.
"What are you yelling about?" I ask mildly annoyed.
"I-uh- nothing." he stutters nervously and steps in front of something sitting on the counter so I can't see it.
"What are you hiding?" I ask
"Uh... nothing." he says and crosses his arms like he doesn't know what I'm talking about.
"Then why'd you move from there to there." I ask pointing from his previous position to his current one.
"Um, because there's, uh, there's a draft and I'm already getting a cold." he says and coughs after words.
"Why don't I believe you?" I ask.
"Because you think I'm lying."
"Are you?"
"No."
"Thomas."
"What?"
"Move."
"Uhh..." he stutters so I just push him out of the way. He falls on the ground to reveal,
"The toaster?" I ask flatly.
"Yes." he says quietly and his face goes red.
"How do you get scared by a toaster?" I ask. He lets out a sigh of defeat and explains.
"Well, I woke up and wanted some toast, so I put some bread in the toaster and turned it on. then, I went to brush my teeth and when I was walking by it it dinged and scared me!" he says in one flustered breath.
"Okay but-" I pause when I start to smell burning plastic. I look in the toaster and say,
"Is that your phone?" in a flat tone.
"Yeah." he says, meeting my tone and scratching the back of his neck.
