I enjoyed my job. It was easy and I liked talking to people for a short amount of time instead of having a full on conversation. I mean what would I say? Long convos were okay as long as it was a person who kept it going but short convos in my opinion were best even if you knew them well or not. Short and simple and I liked it that way.
I'm not much of a talker as you can tell. When I'm with my friends I talk more than usual but other than that no. I worked as a cashier at a café near my school. The one who asks what would you like to drink or what pastry you wanted and write down your order on the drink and I get to know your name unless you gave me a fake obviously. Once in a while they'd let me make a drink if the store was slow but as of right now I only know how to make about 10 drinks which isn't many compared to our menu.
There would be some regulars you'd see almost everyday at the same time and some new faces with names that you never saw again or comes in barely. I work six days a week after school till 8 P.M. I sometimes worked weekends but they weren't that bad since I don't really do anything on the weekends so I have something to do.
I wasn't forced to get a job unlike teenagers my age. I wanted a job right when I turned 16. It was hard finding a job but then my friend suggested the café and I got hired the same week I turned 17. I've been working here for about a month so I'm getting the hang of it.
I go to a small private high school that's only a couple blocks away from my job which was amazing. School usually ended around 2:45-3:00 and my shift started at 3:40 which gave me time after school to talk to a teacher or study a bit.
School was okay for me. Had a couple challenges in what I was learning here and there but other than that I was alright with school. I'm almost done anyway since I'm a junior so only these next couple months to go through and then I'm a senior!
But the best part about my job? There's been a boy coming in as a regular for the past two weeks or so. He was handsome and very charming. He has light green eyes that are beautiful. His lips were the perfect shade of pink and red intermixed. And don't even get me started on his hair. He had curly brown hair that was swipped across his forehead to one side. He had a British accent on him as well meaning he was new to the states. I always get excited whenever I see him walk through the door. But I know a boy like that would never give me the time of day. Ever since the first day he ordered hot chocolate and a croissant. When he came up I would ask what he would like even though I knew exactly what he would say. I'd grab his cup size that he ordered and ask for his name. Everyday he would say it with a cheeky smirk and look at me saying,
"Harry"***********
