I looked out the window at the eery forest forever covered in fog. I have ever wanted to go in and look at the wonders hidden in that forest. My name was called by mom telling me dinner was done. A heavy ragged breath left me as I pried my eyes away from the forest.
I was in my studio full of photos, not just any photos either, photos of abandoned places. Some hang on walls while some sit in stands, some with paint on them. Thought I try something different with the photos I took.
I stopped at the desk checking my laptop on the status of the downloading of my camera. My latest adventure -well, actually earlier today- was at an amusement park that was closed down in the 50's. The story of how I found the suddenly closed down and forgotten place is another story. Let's just say I found out about it when an old creepy dude came to mom's antique store with a chest full of flyers and posters anywhere from 30's to the mid 60's. They all were in tip top condition, like new condition, the paper felt like it was just made. Mother was preparing herself for the high price the old man would ask for. But, he just walked away with a sinister smile when our eyes met, like he knew something. Both our jaws dropped when it finally hit us, I squealed with glee. Mom had to keep me busy with store chores in fear my excitement might damage the flyers.
After she placed them all out she finally let me look. Instantly I realized something was weird. When I asked mom about it and if she had a weird feeling too, all I got was a tilted head and 'well~' answer. After looking at a few the link was found. The location was the same. Then I looked at the rest of the files.
"Mom!" I shouted not sure where she went to. "No, need to shout I am right here." She said in that expertly calm mother voice. "I found it! I found the link!" I was starting to sound like a little hyper kid who really badly wanted on a roller coaster ride -that is a hundred percent a different story to another adventure.
"It is the location!" I began again. "All near or somewhat in the forest."
I could see the cringe of dislike on my mother's face. I knew I was going to have to negotiate with her about letting me go to some of these places.
My name was called again bringing me back, this time next to the door. "Yeah, I am coming." I told my brother. They shout through the house and I am expected to hear. I yell through the house the parents don't hear. What is up with that? Are they not suppose to have super parent hearing?
Carefully but quickly, I run down the stairs and slide into my seat, the table all set. Our plates full of food, today we are having biscuits and gravy. My favorite. We finish eating and are waiting on my brother who is on his second helping, and talking not eating.
"I heard there was a fair coming to town." I pipe up after he stops talking.
"No." My jaw drops at the sudden stern reply that came from mom. "O-Okay." I stuttered dropping the subject.
After I cleaned the dishes and took a shower, which my father was complaining that I did not take one when I got back. With my jamies on I threw my favorite adventuring jeans in the hamper to get washed along with my shirt. Just as I had entered through the gate to the amusement park I had just explored. I slipped, hard, on my butt. I hissed at the pain shooting up my spine as I held my camera up to protect it. Now know what I hold quite dear compared to my life.
It was surprisingly well kept for a forgotten location. Yet, it did not feel abandoned. I was getting a feeling of being watched. I am not the supernatural superstitious person but I watch -every now and then- those ghost shows. That feeling they describe at times is what it felt like.
As I sat on my bed drying my hair, my mind raced back to what I had seen. It was completely out of the ordinary. Since Disney opened up, parks did not do a castle, at least in that same skill. Even if this amusement park was before Disney that castle was completely out of place. There was no hint that it was meant to be a lively castle. It gave me an eery feeling. It was big, bigger than any of Disney's castles. The size was like it was a real castle. Real I tell you! But, I don't know why I am saying that. The castle it was black, no castle, no matter the age has not been turned black, including remnants of a castle.
