A large man held Irene's arm as he dragged her down an echoing hallway. When she looked to her left she saw patient's yelling curses. She looked to her other side and saw a teenage girl trying to harm herself by punching her own stomach in. That's just about what Irene felt like doing in that moment.
Tears gather in her eyes. She wanted to cry so very loud, but she didn't because she knew she would be abused by the terrible monsters of people that chose to work there. She quietly let the man drag her to another horrid room.
When she was quickly placed down in the chair, a woman who looked about 50 or 60 years of age placed herself into the chair across the table. All the furniture was silver. Metal. The room looked like one in a jail, when big men ask you questions and try to pull information out of you. It was dark, cold, and frightening. The woman stated her name and what she planned to do. Stacy Weskil, she would like to talk to Irene about how she feels. Irene told the doctor how she has a great friend named Angelina and she is a fairy. She told her how she often gets memories of her and her son together, that Donny is all she has left of family. Frankly of friends too. Irene was asked if she had anything that she would like to pass down to her son when she eventually passes away. Irene got very scared, because this seemed like an unusual question. She didn't have an answer. She wasn't sure if it was because she couldn't think of anything, or she was too scared.
When Irene was back in the original room she was placed in, she couldn't stop thinking about what the woman had asked her. "Am I going to die here?" she thought. "I am going to die here. This is where I'll end up resting. Oh my god. This is a terrible place". Her thoughts, once again, were becoming wild. Another panic attack was arising. She felt pain all over her body and wanted to crawl into a ball. Lay on the floor and end the suffering now, to be exact. She covered her ears and shook back and forth. Loud cries escaped her body. Her ears picked up a loud clicking sound. It was very annoying but frightening too. Irene looked around to see where the noise was coming from. The bars on the tiny window were being shaken by Angelina. She was trying to get in! The noise was her tiny shoe banging on the peeling black steel. It took Irene a few minutes to gather herself and then she stood up and helped her fairy get in.
"You're here!" Irene said as she helped Angelina wiggle and squeeze through the bars. "You'd think a fairy would be able to fit through these stupid things," She added.
"Listen, do you want me here to help you out or not?" Angelina asserted.
"Yes," mumbled Irene.
Angelina told Irene she cannot guarantee to get her out but she can help her make the best of it by learning how to stay out of trouble. Or whatever the doctors considered to be troubling. One tip was to never stare or communicate with other inmates. Doing so causes many problems. The other person will most likely make a scene out of it. Also, never complain about the ice baths or pills the doctors give you without any water to wash it down. A mild consequence to anything would be wearing nothing at all except an itchy, smelly straight jacket. At meal time they would kick in the disgusting food on a tin plate and because you wouldn't have the arms to eat it normally, you would have to be eat it off of the floor. Angelina said she knows all of this because she has observed people in asylum's before. She understands that workers are beyond cruel and abusive towards people put in their building. Patients are treated worse than how animals are.
Irene imagined herself having a conversation with her old best friend, Susan.
"How are you Susan" she said, but really to herself.
"I am well Irene, how are you" the nonexistent Susan replied back.
"That's good"
"Yes, and how are the children?" Irene asked.
Susan suddenly had a very deep voice, like a man's, is what Irene thought when she heard Susan answer, "Ma'am your son is fine. As a matter of fact, he's here. That is why I'm here to get you. C'mon now.".
