(suddenly!) IN THEIR THIRD YEAR:
The moon stared back at her, pearly white in its fullness. She felt a change coming over her. She was growing...and something new was happening.
Gold...purple...scarlet...Her room was a sea of colours. The moon looked bigger, brighter and gold. Gold as the colour of the sun. Almost as golden as the colour of her blood.
Cassy's POV:
Suddenly I was back in bed. My eyes flew open as I checked my surroundings. Get a grip girl, it's the first night back at Hogwarts and your pissing yourself in your dreams.
But the colours, they were so real...I shuddered at the thought of the nightmare. Wait a minute, in my dream my blood was gold...that's physically impossible, unless I have golden haemoglobin. I chuckled at my thought.
''What's so funny?" Hermione demanded, narrowing her eyes at me suspiciously.
"You're still awake? It's past two in the mo-"
"I should be the one to ask you that," Hermione replied logically.
"Well...I had a nightmare and I'd rather not talk about it," I told Hermione nervously.
"But are you alright, you do look a bit pale?" Hermione said anxiously.
"Hermione, Hermione, Hermione..." I said, shaking my head. "Will you ever stop worrying? At that rate, you'll be having permanent creases on your forehead and that wouldn't look too good would it?"
"Well, I suppose not..." Hermione agreed, still frowning.
"So what are you waiting for, go back to sleep!" I ordered gruffly as I rested my own head as well.
A couple of minutes later, Hermione was sleeping as soundly as ever, so I crept out of bed as quietly as I possibly could...
***
It was 4 in the morning, I could just make out the sun's outline against the orange sky as it was waiting to make a magnificent rise. I picked up another stone and threw it across the lake.As I watched it slip into the horizon, I felt a warm breeze tickle my bare neck. I shivered involuntarily thinking how a warm breeze could slip into the midst of the wintry weather, when I realised that it was someone whispering.
"What are you doing at this hour?"
My head whipped back as I glanced into two piercing grey eyes. I suddenly realised who this mystery person was.
"I could ask you the same and anyway it's none of your business." I replied defiantly.
"Oh really," Malfoy whispered breathily, tickling my earlobe as I repressed a shudder, "I wonder what a conceited old Gryffindor could be doing down here when they should be having a snore fest with Mudblood Granger!"
Before I realised what I'd done, my hand had flown sharply towards Malfoy's cheek and there was an audible crack as I left a red handprint on his now swollen cheek. Well that felt good, I thought happily.
But my triumph was short-lived as I jerked back to reality when he roughly tilted my chin and forced me to look into his angry grey eyes.
"How dare you? How dare you slap me, me, Draco Malfoy?!" he seethed.
My reply was much calmer, almost as if he wasn't threatening me with his wand, "How dare you call Hermione a Mudblood? And can you not get it into your thick head how conceited and big-headed you are, Draco Malfoy!" I added the last part more venomously than I meant it to be. "And don't you dare threaten me with magic, I can do much better than you could ever dream of!" I spat, angrily.
Malfoy gave one of his well-known annoying smirks, before leaning in and breathing on my face, "Yes, maybe you can do better magic than I can, but I can definitely do some much more skilful, shall we say, non-magic things that you would never dream of."
And without another word, he spun around dramatically, satisfied with the sheer surprise written all over my face.
