Adaline

The night was warm & a small breeze blew across my face. Small streaks stained my cheeks as I walked from the hotel to the closest bar. I didn't know where I was going but at this point I didn't care either.

You're so stupid for thinking this time would be any different. I said to myself.

After walking for what felt like forever I stumbled upon a night club. I walked in hoping to drown my sorrows & find myself at the bottom of a cheap bottle of whiskey.

I immediately went to the bar & sat down ordering a drink.

The bartender quickly made my drink & slid it across the counter.

"I'd normally ask for an ID but it looks like you've had a rough night."

I smiled.

"You have no idea."

I quickly downed my drink & ordered another one. As I was handed a shot I did not hesitate to down that as well. I felt the cold liquid travel down my throat soothing my mind.

I was on my 9th shot but that was not enough for me. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve.

"Maybe 13 is my lucky number'" I chuckled.

As I downed my 13th shot a tall man sat beside me & ordered a drink. He was very attractive I'm not going to lie. His jawline could make a girl go crazy.

As the bartender handed the man his drink he smiled showing his dimples. This mysterious man looked only a few years older than me. Twenty one? Twenty two? Twenty three? But to me age was just a number.

I then ordered another drink since 13 was not my lucky number.

"I've made it." I announced.

The handsome man turned his head.

"17 is my new favorite number." I slurred as I downed my seventeenth shot.

My vision was clouded & my head was spinning. I called the bartender over & took my wallet out.

"Don't worry sweetheart, it's on me."

I smiled & said thank you.

I got up out of my seat & lost my balance. I tripped & landed on the handsome stranger that was sitting next me

"I ... am so sorry." I stuttered.

He looked down at me & smiled.

"It's alright love, no worries."

His accent was charming & sounded like music to my ears.

"I was just heading home." I said struggling to get up & catch my balance.

"Why don't I take you home, a girl like you shouldn't be walking around all by herself, especially at night." He smiled.

"That would be lovely." I managed to say.

My head was spinning like crazy & I had no control over my body. I tired to regain my balance multiple times just for the sake of not embarrassing myself.
