Adaline

The ride home was rather quiet, a comfortable silence lingered in the air. Harry was jetlagged & I was just exhaused, physically & emotionally. After the haunting encounter with Ashton I feel drained. I debated on whether or not to tell Harry everything, I know how he gets sometimes & i'm caught between crossroads here. He's protective over me but thats one of the things that makes me more in love with him.

If I decide on not telling him he'll know i'm keeping something from him & thats what i'm scared of. I never keep anything from him & thats the way it's always been since the first day we met. He gives off a caring aura that allows you to open up to him, regardless of how well you know him.

I decided to tell him tomorrow because i'm far too tired to stay up & start a long conversation on the topic of disinterest, being Ashton. The more I think of the situation at hand the more uncomfortable I get. Not because i'm scared of how he'll react but because when I think of Ashton I can't help but think of how forcefully he kissed me, in comparison to Harry's gentle touch.

We pull into the garage of our home & I drag myself inside, not saying a word. I head into our bedroom & strip down, Harry following close behind me. I stand over the foot of the bed as Harry comes behind me, wrapping his arms around me. He gently kisses my neck & leans his head on my shoulder. "I've missed you so much Adaline".

I hum as I lean my head back. My lips reach his in a short, blissful kiss. "I've missed you more than you know". He begins to kiss my neck but stops & pauses. "You seem incredibly tired love, get some rest. I'm all yours tomorrow". I simply nod & head into bed.

Harry puts his things down & joins me in bed shortly after. I cuddle up to him & entangle my body with his. He runs his fingers through my hair & kisses my forehead & before I know it i'm fast asleep.

I wake up to the sweet aroma of coffee & bacon. I throw on a robe & walk out to the kitchen. I see Harry sitting by the counter sipping his coffee, looking out the window. I walk towards him & kiss him on the head before pouring myself a cup. "Goodmorning beautiful" he says, his voice low & husky. "I would've woken you up but you looked so peaceful." He smiles. "No worries babe." I return with a smile.

"How was your trip?" I sip my coffee. He changes his direction from the window to me. "Same stuff, different location. Quite lonely actually". My eyes soften, "i'm sorry". I stare blankly into my cup of coffee. "It's alright" he pauses, "now my love, would you like to tell me whats been on your mind?" I let out a clearly audible sigh.

"There's no easy way to put this". I pause for a moment to gather my thoughts. "Ashton came by last night, well more like broke in. I don't know h-" I was cut off. "Wait, did you say break in?" Harry squirms a bit in his seat. "Yes. I don't how he found me let alone how he broke in but thats not all." I look up to see Harry attempting to stay calm. "I obviously kicked him out but before he actually left he tried to apologize & asked for a clean slate with me." I take in a deep breath. "I told him no & he kissed me. I didn't kiss him back Harry, I promise." I stopped talking to let him cut in & say something. I was scared to look up & face him but I felt as though I had no other option.

I could see Harry was focusing on slowing his breathing down & trying to stay calm. A ghost of my voice spoke up "are you mad at me?" He paused for a moment & looked up, looking somewhat sad. His eyes softened & he gave me an endearing look. "No Adaline, not in the slightest." He gave me a warm smile. I sighed in relief.

"I just don't like how someone else graced your body with their touch. I should've been here & I hate myself for not being your protector when you neded me most." He stood up.

"Hey, you're here now & thats all that matters okay? You were on a business trip & nobody can help that, not even you. Its okay Harry."

He walked over to me & hugged me tightly, his touch lingering for longer than normal. He kissed the top of my head & whispered softly. "I promise i'll protect you Adaline". I smiled into his embrace & nodded my head.

After what seemed like an eternity he loosened his grip & walked over to the sink, placing his mug at the bottom. "However, i'm getting new locks & a security system." He smiled cheekily. "Fair enough." I chuckled.

As if on cue Molly trotted into the kitchen & rubbed her body against Harry's legs, letting out a soft meow. Harry bent down & picked her up & kissed her head. A quiet purr erupted from the small lump of fur in his arms. I sat down & sipped my coffee, watching Harry & Molly catch up on lost time.

As I sat staring at the two of them & realized how content i've become with the life I currently live & I couldn't ask for anything more.
