Adaline

We've had Molly for about a week or so & Harry had left to take her to the vet to get some vaccines.

It was a gloomy Thursday & the rain drops came down on the window, dancing their way to the bottom as I sat at the windowsill. I was stuck staring at the beaconing city of New York. I found myself thinking of what I've been doing for the past few weeks. Everyday I wait for Harry to come home, hopelessly devoted to his arrival every evening & being able to be held in his embrace. I'll occasionally drive to my desired photographs but I hardly go anymore. However I have taken a liking to drawing & I've become more & more skilled as I spend hours drawing simple yet complex sketches, filling up my notebooks.

I jump when I hear the door nob giggle but my senses are relieved when I see bright pair of emerald eyes walk through the door. I gently place my notebook on the coffee table & walk over to him as he lets Molly out of her traveling case. As he finishes I place my fingers under his chin guiding his face towards mine. I send him a smile as my cheeks blush with a soft shade of pink.

"I missed you." Harry whispered breaking the silence.

"Oh yeah?" I raise an eyebrow at him, a smirk plastered on my face.

He nods placing his hands on my waist pulling me closer to his body. I rest my hands on his chest & slowly move my head to make eye contact with him. His emerald eyes sparkle looking up to mine.

"You're beautiful, Adaline." He whispers sending shivers down my spine.

I feel his gentle touch slowly trail down my arm giving me goosebumps as his hand stops to hold mine. I place my hand on his cheek, sliding my thumb back & forth. I part my lips & slowly lean in towards Harry's ear leaving a trail of kisses from his jawline to his neck. I feel his heart racing against my own as I hear a knock at the door.

I gently get up & answer the door with a smile. My eyes widen in surprise as I open the door to reveal the woman I despise most in this world. I don't know how she could have found me, I specifically remember not leaving a note for her but even so she wouldn't have read it anyways.

I slam the door but the sound that the door makes when it gets shut angrily didn't ring in my ears like it should have. Instead I heard a palm slam on the door keeping it from closing.

I give her a look of disgust before rolling my eyes. "I have nothing to say to you."

Her eyes soften. "Well I have plenty to say to you. You need to come home right now young lady, you think you can just leave like that? I had to track you down to find you here at some poor random man's house. You are out of control."

I scoff & chuckle a bit at her angry words. "I'm 18, I'm an adult & as far as I'm concerned you're the one who's 'out of control.' I'm moving out & that's final. Maybe this will teach you to get your own job & not rely on your daughter for paying the bills."

I slam the door & lock it before I let her get a word in. I rested my back against the door & closed my eyes to just breathe for a second. To take everything in & come to the realization I'm all by myself now. My eyes open as I feel a hand rubbing my shoulder.

"Oh my sweet Adaline, everything will be okay."

"I hope so." I look up & smile at Harry as he leans down to plant a soft gentle kiss on the tip of my nose.
