"That'll be $7.95," Luke said cheerfully to his customer. A cheerful blonde stood in front of him and giggled. Michael stood at behind his register, suppressing his sarcastic laughter whilst rolling his eyes.
"You've got a cute accent," she said, attempting to stall her time, slowly reaching for her purse from her Prada handbag.
"Thanks, you too," Luke replied, giving her a wink. Michael glared at the back of the girls head as if it would be any help to the situation. He stood annoyed at the girl, Luke and the frustratingly slow elderly lady slowly out coins to pay for her goods. The blonde eventually took out her card and handed it to Luke, fingers touching too long for Michael's liking.
He didn't even know the girl and she was in his bad side. She was annoying and not cute at all. And not to mention, she was flirting with Luke. Not a good combination.
"Credit right?" Luke asked.
"Mmhh," she said licking her lips. "So your names Luke," the blonde stated nodding to his card.
"That's what the at card says," Luke laughed, packing up the customers items.
"Well Luke," the blonde said suggestively leaning forward, "How about I give you my number and we could hang out some time?"
"Sure," Luke giving the girl a smile as he scrawled his number.
Michael grumbled as he finally took his customers coins and opened and closed the register too roughly, coins rattling in their place. He took the bags and shoved them in his customers face.
"Have a nice day," he said in a monotone. The lady mumbled angrily at his tone muttering why couldn't all cashiers be like Luke.
"Okay cool," the girl said, taking the piece of paper, "I'll text you."
Michael watched her leave the store, electronic doors sliding open as she disappeared around the corner.
"You've got a cute accent," Michael mimicked in a high pitched voice as soon as she was gone.
Luke laughed tilting his head slightly back, beginning to clean the register.
"How about I give you my number" he continued. "No lady," Michael began angrily. "How about you just shut the fuck up?"
"Woah mate," Luke laughed. "Who pissed in your cereal?"
"More like who poured the rich girls perfume into my cereal," Michael replied as he lifted he counter and stuck a 'Next Register Please' sign.
"Don't worry mate, I wasn't going to text her," Luke reassured as he spun his keys on his finger.
"Like I would have cared."
Luke scoffed and shook his head knowing that if he mentioned anything else he would leave the boy blushing.
"When do you get off today?" Luke asked as they walked towards the store room.
"Five I think?" Michael said sliding key card into the door with a click.
"I think I finish at 6."
"Oh cool. Did you want me to stay behind or?"
"Nah it's okay, you can leave if you want."
Michael didn't want to seem clingy but he didn't want to just stay at home doing unproductive things when he could be hanging out with Luke.
"It's alright, I'll just get an extra start for tomorrow, you know how Mindy gets up at me."
"Yeah right, I don't even know why she has a problem with you," Luke commented as he grabbed a trolley.
"Okay so all we have to do is just stack these boxes in the electronics area and stack the shelves in the food area."
"Seems easy enough."
"Well with the amount of Hot Cheetos people eat in the place it ain't going to be fun."
"Don't worry we'll make it fun."
Michael smirked and fiddled with his fingers. He knew it was going to be a great night.
