"You know I could be off right now," Michael stated as he continued to wipe down the floor. The store was almost empty with the occasional rush from customers who had forgotten an ingredient for their cake or a mother attempting to find their runaway child.
"So leave," Luke shrugged plopping the mop back into the bucket. "Nothing's stopping you."
"Well actually that's not true. You see when Mindy pulled me aside she said I had to stay an extra hour."
Michael ran over the short and surprisingly non-hostile conversation with his manager. After she had calmly told her the pair had to finish cleaning their mess and the entire store, Michael sent out a small thank to the Gods for allowing him to share time with Luke.
"Well I guess now your voluntary time is now un-paid over time."
"It doesn't have to be," Michael smirked slowly wheeling his bucket back into the cleaning room but Luke didn't hear as he started up the vacuum. He slowly wandered to the pile of foam beads and suckingthem away. Michael sighed leaning against the wall, admiring the glorious figure in front of him. The tight blue shirt crept upwards showing his white band from his under wear and the brown belt that struggled to hold on to his hips. It also stretched over his sot yet firm shoulders and spread effortlessly over his moving shoulder blades prodded upwards. His divine fingers gripped the machine and he guided it in all directions, his arm veins were beautifully displayed, soft and light arm hair glittering.
The store lay silent and Luke shuffled to the power station and unplugged the machine.
"What are you doing over there?" Luke asked as he winded up the cord.
Michael jumped at Luke's attention on him.
"You know, the usual."
"Such as doing nothing?"
"Well, actually yes – but also!" Michael gave an expressive bow aimed at Luke. "Admiring the view."
Luke scoffed as he walked towards Michael.
"You know, I think I know Mindy doesn't fire you."
"Why?"
"From your comments I can thoroughly tell," he replied placing his hand on Michael's shoulder. "That you're, 'Good with the ladies."
"Well certainly not her in that case."
Luke grabbed the checklist outside the store room door and checked off two more activities.
"So now all we have to do is return all trolleys."
"There are a lot of them you know," Michael pointed out.
"How did you wanna do it then?"
Things were getting awkward between the pair, well at least Michael l thought and he would become a mess if he let it show.
"Let's race, whoever collects the most trolleys wins."
"Okay you're on."
They both assembled themselves next to aisle one and began to ready themselves.
"You ready?" Michael asked but Luke didn't reply.
"Okay...3...2..."
Michael quickly pushed Luke to the side and ran for it, bolting straight to the children's area, knowing that there would be monstrous amounts of abandoned trolleys from angry children needing to be removed from embarrassing mothers.
"Hey that's unfair!" Luke exclaimed distantly behind him but Michael was already sweeping around the corner, roughly 7 trolleys in sight.
"I never said anything about cheating!" he retorted rapidly shoving trolleys together. Once gathered he speedily made his return jumping up so he could glide along the floors. Turning back he could see Luke had roughly the same amount and Luke knew and gave him a sly look. Dumping the trolley's he bolted to another section but not before he stopped to hear Luke laugh. He saw Luke adding trolley's to his.
"Hey! You can't do that!"
"YOU NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT CHEATING!" he quoted.
"BASTARD!"
After 15 more minutes of mayhem the stores were cleared and they began to count to see who had won.
"22...23...24!" Luke said triumphantly poking his tongue at Michael.
"No you would have 20 if it weren't for you stealing my trolleys!"
"Oh shush, at least we got the job done and had fun you wuss."
"How did you get so many though?" Michael asked.
"Easy," Luke bragged, propping his elbow against the trolleys. "There's heaps at the loading dock.
Michael pouted.
"Why? Where did you get yours?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
Michael blushed profusely, looking down. "At the children's area," he said in a hushed voice.
"Ah, a classic, a good spot," Luke complimented. "But most mothers take the trolleys back, its way faster than the walk of shame."
Luke turned and started to push the trolleys back. Michael knew that they would be gone in less than 10 mins if he let Luke take them back and with the blood pumping around him his body and mind were exhilarated. He wanted to keep living the best day of his life.
"Wait," he said, placing his hand on Luke's wrist stopping him.
Luke gave him a confused look.
"You stay here and I'll stand at the trolley return and you push one trolley towards me."
Luke's face changed into a horizon wide smile.
"I like the way you think Clifford," he said as Michael made his way down the store.
"So now," Michael warned reaching the trolley bay and turning around, "try not to hit –"
Michael fell to his side, clutching his stomach, the cold floor kissing his face.
"Luke used trolley! Its super effective!" he cheered.
Michael peered up to see him celebrating arms in the air and spinning like a ballerina.
"Okay Luke, now you've really pushed it too far."
A/N: Hello! How are you? I hope the story isn't too terrible as I haven't touched this story in a while so I only vaguely know where this is going. It's mainly fillers so far but hopefully you're enjoying it and can see that the chapters are going to be hours.
- All the love, E.
