...Seriously, how many people thought Chapter 9 was the last chapter? I actually have one more chapter in mind, and then after that I can probably do a quick fun fact chapter where I can list out some interesting facts about the book. Yes, I am actually planning on doing one. XD
And what I meant by "ending" in chapter 9 was just the ending of the chapter itself, not the actual story. SO if you guys really thought chapter 9 introduced the finale, well, in Wasabi's words, "prepare to be amazed", because it wasn't.
Anyways, so here's the final chapter.
The final two performances of the Nutcracker passed by in a blur, and soon you found yourself completely free for the winter holidays. And just in time, too! Next thing you knew, you were waking up on Christmas morning to see yet another gentle snowfall drift past your window, a smile creeping on your face at the prospect of finally being able to relax.
Suddenly, your mom burst into your bedroom, and you were shocked to see her already dressed in her tacky Christmas sweater--a dark blue one with a snowman wearing a red Santa hat and a broom in its hand, snowflakes knitted around the top half of the garment--as well as a pair of black jeans. "Merry Christmas, (Y/N)!" she cried, making you bolt up in your bed and staring at her incredulously.
"Hey mom," you greeted her. "Shouldn't I be the one excitedly bolting up and jumping around on a Christmas day? You're breaking the tradition, mom."
"Aww, of course you should be! But you were sleeping so peacefully!" your mom gushed. "And I didn't want to wake you up. But if you didn't, you wouldn't see all the presents we all got for you--"
"PRESENTS?!!" This word alone made you jump out of your bed and run all the way downstairs faster than even Gogo could probably imagine. The sight of the Christmas tree looming over you and your dad in the living room made you grin as you bent down and located, yes, a lot of presents this year from your mom and dad and family friends too.
"Whoa! That's a lot of stuff this year," you said remarkably, carefully unwrapping the wrapped presents and piling the wrapping paper up in a pile behind you, revealing several bath sets and a jewelry box and a blank journal and even a stuffed Nutcracker from your parents. All in all, you thought, it seemed to be a pretty good haul, though if you had to admit it, the pendant Hiro gave you probably topped it all off.
Your dad only smiled from the rim of his mug as he watched you pile all of your presents up into a stack and put them to the side. "Got good presents this year, (Y/N)?"
"Yeah. Thanks for the stuffed Nutcracker," you smiled, giving him a hug. "Now I'd better get dressed."
"About time too, dear!" your mom called out in laughter, and you only gave her a teasing smirk as you went upstairs and changed into your Christmas sweater--a red one with several penguins holding carol books and singing--pairing that with blue jeans. You also put on the ballerina pendant Hiro gave you, glancing at yourself in the mirror and smiling before running downstairs again. A hearty breakfast with fried eggs and pancakes and hot chocolate followed, rounding off your morning quite nicely.
Just as you finished the last of your hot chocolate, the phone rang, and your mom picked up. "Hello? Oh...of course." She then held the phone out to you. "It's Hiro!" she sang.
You only laughed as you took the phone. "Hello?"
"Hey (Y/N)! Merry Christmas!" Hiro greeted you into the phone, and you could hint out a true smile on his face by the way he said it.
"Merry Christmas to you too, Hiro," you said, grinning. "How're you doing?"
"Honestly? I'm feeling great," he said. "You?"
