A Short Thought by Dakota G. Williams

With the backdrop of the green pines and the rolling hills, the tiny, blossoming, lemon colored

sunflowers is put into perspective. The aroma of the sugar pines in the meadows of western Austria is

mesmerizing. It enchants those audacious enough to venture out to it. Making their odyssey well

worth their while. With the swell of colors, the sojourn could stand, awestruck by the raw beauty and

efficacy the fields describe. Although, as time passes, the traveler will become listless, and there, is

highlighted, the hamartia of the human race. The inability to be eternally pleased; the constant need

for more. This bereft of contentedness and alleviation of sorrow has lead many on a path for a higher

purpose, also known as religion. The sojourn, once embarked on this glorious path, can then finally

find comfort in the newfound resolve that revolves around a higher being. How amazing it is to be

able to never become blasé to such sights; to scenes that depict immaculate landscapes, because

once the traveler understands that the pastures of Austria are the creation and that God is so

majestic, he will never view his creation as insipid. He will then be finally, eternally at peace.
