With a start, I wake up back in the plain testing room. I look around and it takes me a while to register the cold, hard glare I am getting from Headmistress Cherub from across the table. "That concludes your test Aria Harrington. You are assigned Professor Hunter Matthieu." And then in her usual fashion, she swishes out of the room.
What the hell was that. In a daze, I walk out the door, through the corridors and out the doors. Making my way to the garden, I sit. "Arise my lioness" keeps echoing through my head. Was that really a dream? I mean, I know I have realistic dreams, but this one took the cake. It was so vividly etched into my memory. And then the test? did I just automatically fail for falling asleep? and who was Hunter Matthieu? Lashing out, I started kicking a nearby tree. I was sick of having more questions than answers. I was sick of never understanding, I was sick of always being confused and I was sick and tired of Angel Academy.
"Aria? are you alright?" I flinch at the sound of Indigo's voice, remembering the guns those men had pointed at her. She grabs a hold of my arm and leads me back to the bench. Sitting down, she passes me her water bottle. "Here, drink some of this, it is a god send" without thinking, I chug back more than half the contents. "Thanks"
"Okay, so tell me everything, was it a hard test? was there lots of maths in it? because I suck at maths but I don't want Professor Marcus because I don't know if I can survive another story about his dog and his bowel movements."
"I can't tell you Indigo" Indigo almost looked hurt,
"I won't tell anyone, just help me out with the maths part, or just tell me what parts I should study?" I shook my head,
"no, I mean I really can't tell you anything. I... I fell asleep and got failed straight away." There was a pause and then the garden fills with the sound of Indigo's laughter. "It's not funny" Indigo tried her hardest to stop her laughter, but she couldn't wipe the goofy grin off of her face.
"I'm sorry, you're right... it's just oh my goodness, I can just imagine Cherub. You're so lucky punishment hasn't started yet. Oh man, they must have paired you with the devil himself to try whip you into shape for the competitions" Indigo continued to laugh.
"Hunter Matthieu" the name wiped the smile off of Indigo's face.
"Whoa, maybe I should fall asleep in my test. Hunter is honestly God's greatest creation since puppies. You are so going to make all the other girls jealous." I shrugged,
"I don't even know who he is" I confessed, Indigo looked amazed,
"Have you been living under a rock!? Isn't he your coach for gym class?"
I thought back to that 'dream' I had where I was at gym class and broke my ankle running laps, Caleb had told me it was just a dream, but the trainer had said 'Hunter' just before I tripped... was he telling me his name?
I sighed, "I honestly have no clue." we sit for a moment in silence before Indigo glances at her watch.
"Well, wish me luck, I better head over to my test now! god I hope I get the dreamy science guy" I watch Indigo as she bounces off towards her test. She makes me smile.
I sit for a moment longer, embracing the peace and quiet when all of a sudden a dog comes limping up to me and collapses. Quickly kneeling down to it, I notice it has cut marks all over it and is losing quite a bit of blood. Panicked, I try to cover his wounds, placing one hand on top of a wound, I use my other hand to stroke his head soothingly, whispering promises that it'll be okay. Immediately, the dogs whimpering fades and a strange tremble begins in my hands. Quickly yanking my hand away, I notice that the bleeding has stopped, but that is not what shocks me, the deep cuts that once covered the dogs body have disappeared without a trace.
