(Kind of how I pictures indigo, who did you picture?)
I woke to the sound of a loud horn blaring through a speaker on the corner of my ceiling, it was almost impossible to ignore. I say almost because I was determined to escape back to my dreams of laughing with my family. When the rude noise finally ceased, I snuggled further into my blanket praying for sleep to return to me.
"Rise and shine princess" groaning I threw my pillow in Caleb's general direction. There was a moment of silence and I began to relax again before my blankets were ripped off me. "What the helmet!?" I glared at Caleb hoping that over night I had developed heat ray vision so that I could burn him to a crisp, but life was cruel and all I gained was a chuckle from him.
"Isn't there a rule that forbids ogres from entering girls dorms without permission!?" I spat, he just laughed harder. When finally he could bring himself to stop, he replied "I've been assigned the sacred job of making sure you make it to meals and classes on time" it was my turn to laugh
"Go away ogre, your services are not needed, I don't plan on attending anything this hell has to off-" Before I could finish my sentence, Caleb grabbed my ankles and dragged me off my bed, flinging me over his shoulder and heading out the room. I once again pounded on his back, the memory of being in this position not that long ago still burning in my mind. "Put me down ogre!" He ignored me and I sighed in resignation.Moments later, he kicked open the double doors that lead into the dining hall. My face went a thousand shades of red as every pair of eyes stared at me. I made eye contact with Amelia and silently begged her to save me. She stood and sauntered over to Caleb, whispering something in his ear that I could not hear, he grunted then dropped me onto a seat before walking back out the double doors.
"Ms. Harrington, nice of you to join us" I blushed at the stares I got. "However, your mode of transport and your inappropriate dress sense are inadequate. Lucky for you, punishments do not begin until next week. Take this as a warning. Do not disappoint us again" I looked away from headmistress Cherub's look of disapproval and instead took in the others in the room. Most had returned to their eating while other stared straight at me. I noticed everyone was already in uniform while I still wore my pajamas that looked like they came straight out of a Taylor Swift music video.
Inwardly groaning, I dug into the food that had been placed in front of me, finally able to block out everyone as I shovelled my one true love into my mouth. Oh food, how kind of you to save me, my hero in shining china! As I sat eating my food, a strange girl with her hair in two buns sat in the seat opposite me with an inquisitive stare. Not one for conversation, I ignored her and went back to my eating.
"You know they feed us more than once a week... you don't have to force that all down" I brought my eyes up to stare into her warm eyes that seemed to dance with humor. I smiled then continued, not in the least bit full. You see, if I had to write down one amazing talent, it wouldn't be the seven languages I spoke, the instruments I played or even my surprisingly good talent for 'the floor is lava' game, no, my amazing talent would be my ability to eat. My mum and brother often joked about it at the dinner table. "well I'm Indigo" she introduced as she streched her arm out for me to shake, ever the awkward turtle, I just stared at her arm. She slowly pulled her arm back when she realised I wasn't moving my own arm away from my food any time soon. She chuckled; "No need for introductions I suppose... I already know who you are anyway, the badass Aria!" badass? I had been called many things in my life, but badass was definitely not one of them.
"Badass?" I questioned with my full mouth, Indigo nodded enthusiastically,
"ahhh, she talks! and yep! you're a badass! I like your style, your whole 'I do whatever the hell I want' attitude" I choked on my food in laughter at what I guessed was her impersenation of me. When I was finally able to swallow my food I replied "I'm... I... well..." I let out a little laugh, not able to form a sentence. Blushing for what felt like the millionth time today (and it wasn't even 9 am yet! this had to be a record!) I looked away "uhh one of those silent badass girls! I like it!" I looked up and smiled at Indigo, thankful for her talkative nature, she winked at me and the bell went off. I watched as all the girls stood up and filed out of the room behind headmistree Cherub. Begrudgingly, I followed Indigo out the room, but not before I caught Amelia staring at us."Well badass Aria, I will drop you to your dorm so you can get changed but sadly I can't wait around, I left my schedule on my bed, but I'll see you in training!" I nodded, and we continued walking in silence. When we finally reached my dorm, I groaned, Caleb was leaning against my door seemingly lost in his own thoughts. "Good morning Caleb!" Indigo beamed, Caleb looked up and nodded with a broad smile before wriggling his eyebrows at us mischeivously. Indigo slapped his shoulder with a laugh "well as much as I would love to see why you look like you are up to no good, I'm sure it isn't worth the fury of Cherub, see ya soon badass Aria" she threw a wink my way and disappeared down the hallway.
"You don't have to wait around, I'm planning on going to class" I still shocked myself at my ability to form a proper sentence around Caleb, but shrugged it off. "Darling princess, I am here to escort" rolling my eyes at his formailty, I walked into my room and began looking around for my uniform. "Lost something?" Caleb questioned,
"Where is that darn uniform!?" he chuckled and walked in the room, lifting the blankets he had flung off me this morning and lifting up my uniform from beneath it. I snatched it from his hands and pointed to the door "leave ogre" I demanded, he pulled an almost hurt looking face "you offend me fair princess, does the hero not even deserve a glance for the succesful mission of finding your lost clothes?" I tried to stifle a laugh that threatened to escape and glared at him instead. After a stare down he finally walked out but didn't shut the door. Slamming it, I hurried into the room and changed as quickly as possible into the uniform which was a knee length white dress with lace capped sleves, very impractical. I sighed and sat on my bed as I slipped on the mandatory heels.I tried standing in the death traps they called heels and tried wobbling to my desk, getting frustrated, I flung them off and opted for my chuck taylors instead, much better. Standing up, I grabbed the paper slip off my desk and flicked through my schedule. Physical training. What a joke! the only uniform provided was this dress and heels! how on Earth were we supposed to train in this! Stalking to the door, I flung it open without warning, obvioulsy Caleb had been leaning on the door again as he came crashing down on top of me, but before his weight could crush me, I was being flung around and landed in Caleb's lap instead. How the helmet...
