Some are born with greatness but, most at least around here adopt it at some point in their life.

I can't really explain where Supers came from or a time when there wasn't Supers. Their are millions trying to explain where powers came from. Some say exposure to radioactivity, genetics, and even the possibility of some being bite by something, which I for one think is rubbish. All I know is crime rates dropped and Supers became unstoppable and our main response to any crime rating from theft to murder.

Nowadays, everyone's favorite are the young attractive heroes. Take Cronus Day for example. Cronus Day was the biggest , most know superhero around here. He showed up about a year ago showcasing his super strength and ability to fly. He was young or at least that's what we all assumed because of course he wore a Navy blue and silver mask like all superheroes those are a required thing. In my opinion there were better more capable Supers here.

Now I know you're asking how do I socially awkward 17 year old Lane Walker know so much about Supers? Well, I'm one of them-well kind of. Yes, I had my own set of powers but I didn't use them.

I developed my powers young, younger than most Supers i've read about. I was 9 years old and constantly getting pounding headaches and constantly picking up colds. It felt like my body was on fire. If that wasn't the worst my senses ignited. I remember I had lemon candy and I cried for about three hours until my mouth went back to normal.

Anyway, when they fully came in I wasn't sure what to do with them. I thought about going public creating an alternate identity, I even got the super suit and everything. But, as quickly as I wanted it I didn't want to put my family at any risk . My dad left around the time my powers kicked in and I didn't want to put the family I had at any risk of being discovered . So, I vowed to myself now I would only do things that wouldn't go big publicly, not that I had much to sorry about with Cronus day taking the headlines.

"Laney !" I heard my little brother yell
marching up the stairs,"Time for school.".

I groaned today was the first day back from winter break. I got up right as my brother knocked on the door, "I'm awake calm down !".

I got up and walked to my closet, the last thing I wanted to do was dress up so I went casual. I slipped on a pair of light-washed jeans with holes and a plain grey t-shirt. I threw on a silver necklace that had a gem and then threw my hair in a bun. I quickly put on mascara and a thin layer of eyeliner before going downstairs.

"Good morning.", My mom said.

She was cooking over the stove on her black blazer and slacks, work clothes. "Are you excited for school ?".

I looked down to the paper sitting on the table. The headlines read, "Arc Vulcan Super villain or Petty thief?". It went on to say that apparently while a young girl was walking home, he corned and mobbed her or something of that sort. Arc Vulcan this wasn't the first time hearing of him. Apparently, he was trying to become a big time villain. Scoffing at the article I threw it aside. Living in a town full of Heros we have people or supers everyday to become the next big villain , the next big person to strike fear into our city but, it never seemed to faze the towns people with Cronus Day usually there to save or ruin their plans. Arc Vulcan please, he'll never be the one.

"Laney?". I looked up," Oh ,yeah I guess and umm I'm just probably gonna be home late tonight I have closing shift."

My mom nodded and put the plate in front of me. I ate as quick as I could before giving my mom a kiss on the cheek and yelling bye to my little brother before I ran out the door.
