"Kiss me until thunderstorms swim in my veins."
I feel completely stupid that I got jealous over Isaac's girlfriend. In my defence though I had never heard Sage talk to another girl with such affection in his voice. He seems more relaxed today as he breathes in the fresh air and moves his head to the sound of the music flowing all around us. His less guarded and it makes a huge smile appear on my face. I like seeing him like this and if I'm admitting to myself I like how his hand feels in mine. I could even get used to the sparks.
The others are waiting for us and Carrie raises an eyebrow at our joined hands. I shrug not wanting to draw attention to it least Sage lets go. "I don't know about you guys but I'm starving." Sage says looking longingly at the trucks of fast food.
"I good go for a juicy burger." Drake says already heading in that direction. I shake my head and laugh as we all trail behind him.
"How did it feel being up there?" I ask Sage.
He looks down at me with a starry gaze that makes my heart skip a beat. If anyone was born to be a rock star it is Sage Williams. There was just something about his cold exterior that drew you in when he was on stage, because up there you glimpsed more of his soul than any other time and what you saw was the most beautiful thing you ever had the privilege of witnessing.
"Unreal." He says with a barely there smile. "I have never felt more alive."
"I've never seen you more alive." I find myself saying.
He looks down at me and I feel the barely there movement of his thumb against my hand. "I'm guessing you liked my dance moves then." He says grinning wickedly.
I laugh. "I don't know how you move so well with a guitar."
He winks at me and I'm instantly reminded of when he was on stage. I blush a little and of course he notices. "You're thinking about the song aren't you?" His grinning and I push his arm with my free hand. "Shut up." Sage starts chuckling but indulges me.
We stand before the line of food trucks. Drake is already in line for a burger and the others are scattered nearby. "What do you want?" Sage asks. I shrug looking around. I've never really been to a festival before and quite honestly it's all a little overwhelming. As if notching this Sage smiles reassuringly while as reassuringly as Sage can. "How about a little bit of everything?" I give him a no way look and he laughs. "I mean chilli cheese fries and burgers and if you're still feeling up to it deep fried ice-cream."
I laugh. "That actually sounds really good." Sage points me in the direction of Carrie whose sitting alone at a nearby table. "I'll go get the food." I reach into my pocket to give him some money but his running off before I can. I have a feeling he done it on purpose. I sigh and head over to Carrie sitting down across from her.
She looks up from her phone at me and gives me a look as she leans across the table. "What's going on with you and Sage?" I look up at him as he gets in line. The group of people in front of him notice him and immediately start asking for his autograph. I laugh at his deer caught in the headlights expression.
"I don't know. Nothing." I say frustrated as I run a hand through my hair. Carrie gives me a look as if she doesn't believe me. "I'm serious. You asking me that question is like me asking you what's going on between you and Drake."
Carrie cringes. "Good point."
"They were amazing though." I say.
Carrie nods in agreement. "I've seen Sage do some killer shows but that was something else."
"It's his passion." I say.
Carrie looks over at Drake whose heading back to us with burgers in hand. "It's all of their passions." She says quietly with a soft look in her eyes. Drake slides in beside Carrie placing a burger down in front of her. He grins at me. "Wait till you try these burgers Mads they are orgasmic." I wrinkle my nose in distaste at his choice of words. Thankfully though Sage slides in beside me a second later and places a plate of chilli cheese fries between us before giving me my burger.
