Ranger's Apprantice is a series of fantasy novels written by John Flanagan.

The series follows the adventures of Will, an orphan who is taken as an apprentice Ranger, as he strives to keep the Kingdom of Araluen safe from invaders, traitors, and threats. He is joined on his adventures by his mentor Halt.

There are now twelve books in total:

Nobody has any super powers in this series. They are ordinary. They need training to acheive greatness, to become a hero. But hey, look at it this way: they are kinda like a mix of Hawkeye and assassins. So basically you're reading Hawkeye and little Hawkeye in training before they are off to the battle field slaying people with their bow and arrows wearing their cloak that can practically make them invisible.

I know right? How cool is that?

I'm pretty sure it's a children's book, but I'm pretty sure Harry Potter being a children's book never stopped you from (re)reading it so it shouldn't be a problem.
