Sammy has chosen her first case and has been enrolled in a high school in the same town as the case, because she thinks a math teacher is a demon and is collecting souls early. I on the other hand have my own thoughts on the case. I think this could be an Okami and it is definitely not the math teacher. I'm looking at the guidance counselor. Which is why I have made an appointment with her to discuss my daughters attitude. Sammy isn't too thrilled but I got to do what I have to. Today I'm taking her to school for the meeting. "Dad, seriously? That sweater is ridiculous." She says to me with a disgusted look. "I have to look the part of a father." I say. "As opposed to a single father, flannel wearing hunter?" She quips. Her response makes me laugh. "Just let me go on my hunch. I've been doing this a lot longer than you, remember that." I say as we drive to the high school.
Once we pull up, I see Sammy waving at other kids and she looks so happy. "So what's the counselors name?" I ask her. "Miss. Porter." She answers annoyingly as we walk up the steps into the high school. Just before we get to Miss. Porter's door, Sammy stops me "Dad, please don't embarrass me." She says. "Oh stop it, you're so dramatic. I'll be a model father." I say walking in and hear her whisper, "Yeah, I'm afraid of that."
"Miss. Porter, Thank you so much for seeing us so early." I say extending a hand to her. She stands up and I'm met by the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen and her golden hair. She removes her black framed glasses and places her delicate hand in mine. "Not, a problem Mr. Levine." She says. Sammy chose our last names, something about Adam Levine and he's so cute, blah, blah, blah. "Ok so. I've got a couple notes and calls from teachers about Samantha's attitude. I'm a single father and raising a teenage girl is a little difficult. I just wanted some advice on what to do for her." I say to Miss. Porter. She smiles gently, "Mr. Levine..." She begins but I stop her, "Please, call me Dean." I insist. "Ok, Dean, Samantha is a great kid, her grades are perfect, she never skips a class and has never been absent. Maybe she misses her mom. How long has it been?" She asks. "Since birth." I say. "Oh, I'm sorry. You've done a wonderful job with her." She says. "Thanks. I try. So any ideas?" I ask. I'm not getting any indication that this woman is an Okami.
"Well we do have a girls camp weekend coming up. Maybe that is something she would be interested in. Normally we have mother's and daughter's, but you can come along." She explains. "Will there be any other teachers?" I ask her. "Of course. Several teachers will be going to set up activity stations. Should I put your names down?" She asks pen in hand. I debate with myself a bit thinking this could be a good opportunity to question other teachers. I should start asking her some questions. "Yes. I have to be honest with you, Samantha is not the only reason why I'm here today." I say. Her brow furrows, "What's the other reason?" She asks growing curious. "I'm a FBI agent and I'm here on an assignment to learn more about the missing the students around here. I need to ask you a few questions, if that's ok?" I explain to her. "I didn't know Samantha's father was an FBI agent." She says looking baffled. "Well that's the point, no one is supposed to know. For all anyone knows I'm a mechanic." I say.
"Well that makes sense. So these questions." She says. "Yes, how were the kids doing in school academically?" I ask her. "Well, not very well. All three were near flunking and very introverted. None had a lot of friends and were often trouble makers." She answers. "Did they skip class?" I ask. "Yes, very often." She responds. "I understand you were close to each student, do you have any ideas on who would do this to them?" I ask. "I was close to them, but only because I'm, was their counselor and I tried to guide them in the right direction. They were not known by many kids, like I said they were very introverted." She says. If she is an Okami, she is very good at hiding it. "Ok, well that's all for now. Thank you and I'll see you this weekend. Please don't divulge my true job to anyone." I say. "Of course not. Now here's a checklist for the items you'll need to bring." She says handing me a sheet of paper. I nod and walk out of her office.
