"A battle? When? Where? And with who?" Sammy asks. I grit my teeth and hang my head. I never wanted this life for her. She has proven she knows what she's doing, but in any case there is still danger. I catch Olivia staring at me and she nods motioning me to follow her into the kitchen. "What are you thinking Dean?" She asks me as soon as we are out of earshot of the others. Even though she's been gone for sixteen years she still knows when something is bothering me.
"Just thinking how I failed as a parent and now our daughter will be faced with some unforeseen battle." I explain. Olivia walks over to me placing her hands on my face. For being a zombie or whatever she still feels the same. She tilts my face down so that I 'am looking at her directly. "Dean, you did great with her. She's amazing. She's us. She's you. But she has hunter blood in her and it was inevitable that this life find her." She says. I look at this time, not just as Olivia the living dead but as a woman I love. I pull her into a tight hug. She still smells the same and it feels nice having her warm body pressing against me.
"Liv, I've missed you so much. You have no idea how confusing this is for me." I tell her. "Confusing for you? Dean I was dead then all of sudden I'm in some wooded camp thing where my sixteen year old daughter finds only I don't know it's her because I had some sort of dead amnesia. So I think it's safe to say this whole thing is confusing." She says and I laugh because she's right. "But for the record, I've missed you too. I mean once I realized what was going on." She adds.
As we stand there looking at each other like a couple of love sick teens, Cas comes in with a map, slamming it on the table. "Dean, from what I've been picking up on angel radio it sounds as though Lucifer is out of the cage and coming for Sammy." He says showing me the map. "What? Why her? And what does the map have to do with this?" I ask him. "I've been tracking where chaos and mass death has appeared and there's a trail and it's headed to Kansas." He says. "SON OF A BITCH!" I shout. "Uncle Cas have you figured out why my mom came back?" Sammy asks from the doorway. "I think I've come up with a possibility." He quickly whips the angel blade from his trench coat and slices Olivia's arm, only to reveal an angel like glow before she healed immediately.
"What the hell Cas?" She shouts and begins rubbing her arm. We all stare at her in shock. Only angels do that. Minutes pass before we are jolted out of our trance by banging. "Who knows we're here?" Sam asks. "Jodi, Donna, Claire, any hunter really. Go see who it is." I tell him. Seconds later he emerges back into the kitchen with Chuck in tow. "You? Where the hell have you been?" I shout at him. He puts his hands up, "I came looking for Olivia. By the time I got to the point where I dropped her. She was gone. I figured she would be with you guys. So now let me explain." He says. We all stand and wait for him to do so.
"We need her. She has only the memories I gave her of heaven, but she was actually training for the very thing that's coming for our young Samantha." Chuck explains very little. "It's Sammy by the way. And if she doesn't remember her... heaven battle training then how is she supposed to help?" Sammy asks. Good point though. "You're the key to that my Dear." Is all he says. "Who the hell is this guy and why are we listening to him? He looks like a homeless man." Sammy says. "He's... God." Sam tells her and she immediately starts laughing. She stops once she notices no one else is laughing with her. "You're God? I thought you'd look different." She says eyeing him carefully.
"Alright look guys, I need to take Sammy and Olivia so we can get ready." Chuck says. "And what are we supposed to do?" Sam asks. "No, no. You can't just come down here after we haven't seen you in over ten years and expect to take my daughter. Where she goes I go!" I say to him. "You two must stay here." Chuck says. "If they have to stay here than can unlce Cas come with me. I will do whatever must be done to save my family." Sammy says. "Wow she really is your daughter, Dean. Yeah Castiel can come as well. But one more peice of information Sammy and Olivia come from a long line witches. Sammy has to discover her powers and Olivia has been training." Chuck says.
"What? There is no way my daughter is a witch. Try again." I tell Chuck. "Look I'm sorry if you don't like the information. But I need to get these too into gear and ready. You guys saved the world numerous times, now let someone else try." He says. "Dean I think we should give it a shot." Sam says. ""Easy for you to say that's not your daughter." I shout. "Dean, I'll look after her. I promise." Cas says while grasping my shoulder. "Fine but if she comes back with so much as a paper cut, I'll rip both your throats out." I say looking at Cas and Chuck.
Before I can say my parting words to Sammy they are gone. I yell at the top of my lungs as I fall to my knees. Sam tries to comfort me, but in this state only whiskey can heal me.
4 Days Later
I'm going crazy not knowing where Sammy is or not even hearing from her. I hope she is safe. "Dean, she's a tough kid. She'll be ok." Sam says handing me a beer. "I know she is. I just need to know she is safe. I know Cas is with her but damn it I need to hear from one of them before I go insane." I say. We walk out of the kitchen into the library and as quickly as they left they appear before my eyes. "Sammy!" I shout and run towards her and envelop her in a big hug. I pull at arms length and examine her. "You ok?" I ask her.
"I'm fine dad." She says removing my hands from her. She seems different. I notice Cas has a worried look. "There's something you're not telling me. Spill it. Now." I demand. "It appears Sammy is much more powerful than we had anticipated." Chuck says. "Care to elaborate?" Sam urges him. He nods at Sammy and she closes her eyes. The bunker begins shaking and lights start flickering before they burst. Everyone in the room besides her start to be lifted from the ground. "ENOUGH!" I shout and we all drop.
"What did you do to my daughter?" I ask. "Olivia and I merely aided her in discovering her powers. She's gonna do great things Dean, you'll see." Chuck says. "Dad, I'm fine. With my powers we can win this." Sammy says to me. "Win what? Sweetheart you don't even know what is to come." I tell her. "Actually Dad, I do. Chuck showed me. And Mom and I can defeat it." She explains. "Defeat what? Tell us!" Sam asks taking the words right out of my mouth.
"All in good time Sam. Until then Olivia and Sammy will prepare you two. You have a big fight ahead of you and you must learn to listen and trust your daughter." Chuck says quickly before he is gone once again.
"SON OF A BITCH!" I shout. "Dean, it's really not that bad. Let us girls handle it." Olivia tells me. I stare at them then storm off. I need to go for a drive. I quickly slide into the impala and take off down the road.
"Dean..." I jump and almost drive off the road. "Damnit Cas! What have I said about that." I scold him. "Sorry. I've seen what she can do. We migh have a chance against Lucifer and his army." He states. I slam on the brakes, "Lucifer and his Army?" I question him. "Yes, the battle coming is Lucifer as I said before. But I saw what is coming and it's bad Dean. But seeing what Sammy can do she defeated him everytime." Cas tells me. "Yeah but that was some Chuck like virtual reality thing, we never know what Lucifer is capable of." I remind him. "Chuck does, that's his son." Cas in turn reminds me.
"And that's my daughter!" I shout. My phone rings, it's Sammy. "Hello.... I know I'll be back in a few had to get some air... See you soon... No I'm not mad at you, I love you.. Ok Bye." I end the call. "Are you gonna poof yourself outta here so I can be alone?" I ask him and he quickly leaves.
Why can't we lead normal lives. Before Sammy I would have never thought that but now all I can think about is her safety. Now Lucifer and his friggin army are after her and she has witchy powers. I'm not so sure I can cope with all this. And what happens if we do defeat Lucifer? Does Sammy go back to being herself and does Olivia go back to her heaven?
Upon returning I arrive only to see Crowley and Rowena. "What the hell are you two doing her?" I demand. "Mother heard through her witchy radio that a winchester has inherited witch powers. So we just had to come and see." Crowley answers. "Well hell maybe you two could be of some service. You hear about Lucifer?" I ask as I lead them in. "Yea and that is another reason why we are here. We'd like be on the rigt side of things. No one wants to defeat Lucifer more than I." Crowley almost gravels. "I hear that."
After a few hours of Sammy and Rowena playing around with magical items and spells, Rowena asks to speak to me privatley. Once we reach the kitchen her expression goes serious. "That girl is more powerful than I could ever imagine being. Dean she must only use her magic for good. For the first time she does something out of greed or vengence while using her magic. Dean things could go very wrong." Rowena warns me. This is just what I was afraid of. "So what do we do next?" I ask her.
