Back at the bunker I can feel the tension as everyone waits to hear from Cas. I mean is this permanent? How is she here? Is it really her? A million questions race through my mind. My main concern is for Sammy. She's wanted her mother for so long. I don't want her to be ripped away from her, after all we are Winchesters and happiness isn't for us. We all sit at the table waiting, in silence. I can see Sammy staring at Olivia. "So are we all just gonna sit here and stare at me until Cas gets back or what?" Olivia asks. I look at her, "No. Excuse us if you don't feel comfortable but you've been gone, dead for 16 years. And I'm sure we don't quite know what to say." I explain.
"Well just talk to me. Fill me in on all the things I've missed. But please don't just sit there in silence and stare at me as if I'm diseased." She says. "I'm sorry. We're just trying to figure this out. These things don't just happen without something bad attached to it. You know." Sam tried to explain. Olivia nods, "I understand, but could we, just for now pretend it's a good thing and just talk to me like it's actually me. Samantha please tell me all about yourself." Olivia asks. I can see from across the table Sammy is uncomfortable with the use of her birth given name. "Okay for one I like to be called Sammy. I used to go to school but found yours and Grampa's hunting journals. Then I tired to hunt on my own almost died then dad almost lost it when he found out what I was doing now we're here." She says quickly arms crossed. Olivia nods, "Well you certainly have your fathers temper. Sammy, I'm proud of you have become and I commend your father and uncle for doing their best with you. Now how about you guys?" She asks.
Sam and I look at each other and we both look back at Olivia. Sam clears his throat but says nothing. "Come on guys. Tell me what you've been up too. Dean, any women try to play mommy?" She asks. "No. See Sam and I have been a little preoccupied with hunting and raising a teenager." I answer her. Before she can answer Cas appears. We all stand at the sight of him hoping for good news.
"Well no one knows what's going on. Although she is not the only one to appear. There are eighteen other reportings of the dead coming back. So far no one has gone bad and they all didn't know who they were when they were first approached but all remember they were dead." He explains. We slump into our chairs defeated. "We need Chuck and we need Crowley, now!" I say and rush off out of the bunker.
I begin hitting the doors on my way out. Why can't anything ever be easy and come with a simple explanation. Sammy follows me, "Dad. Calm down. Maybe this is a good thing." She says full of hope. I shake my head, "How can eighteen people coming back the dead be a good thing? From my experience Sammy, it's never a good thing. Now I love you but don't get to attached to that woman being here." I say and I can tell I pissed her off. She crosses her arms, "Dad, are you serious? That woman is mom. My mom. Why can't you ever look at the positive side of things?" She shouts in question. "Because. In my lifetime there is and has never been a positive side of things! Stop being so naive!" I shout back at her. I've made her cry now and she takes off back into the bunker.
"Well now being a father doesn't quite suit you now does it, Dean." I hear the familiar voice of the king of hell. "Damn it Crowley! Don't do that. And for your information I'm a great dad." I say to him matter of factly. "Word is Olivia is back." He asks in a pompous tone. "Yeah, along with eighteen other people across the country. Got an explanation for that?" I ask him sternly. "Dean, are implying that I raised these humans from the dead? I collect souls I wouldn't waste my time in bringing back the dead. Not my business." He says. I roll my eyes and start to head inside. "Uh Dean, I cant go in there." He says. "Oh yeah. Well do you know how we can figure this out?" I ask him. " No. but I guess for you, I can look into it." He says and before I can say anything further he's gone. I look up, " Come Chuck, God or whatever help us out. Are these people coming back, are they really themselves or what?" I ask into the blackness of the night knowing I'm not gonna get an answer. I head back in to see Sammy crying and Sam comforting her.
Sammy sees me and takes off to her room, slamming the door behind her. I start to trudge off after her but Sam catches my arm. "Let her be, Dean. She needs time to process all this." He says. I sigh and slump back into a chair. "We were doing fine. Things were normal, well our normal. Then this shit. Why?" I ask blankly. "Dean I wish I could answer that for you but I'm as lost as you guys. Imagine what I'm going through, I wake up in the woods with no memory of who I'am then these people come rushing to me calling me by a name I vaguely remember. Then my memories come back and I remember everything right down to how much I love you only to find that the people I thought loved me, are scared of me." Olivia says from behind me.
She walks over and sits across from me. "Well when you put it like that." I say. Cas comes from the corridor, "Cas what are you still doing here? I thought you left." Sam asks him. "I was reading and I think we're gonna need some backup." He says. Sam, Olivia, and I exchange looks, "For what?" We ask in unison. "For a battle." He states with more seriousness than usual.
