Chapter 3

As Jada was heading to her Aunt's house, where she's currently living, the hurtful memories of the past creeps into her mind once again. She could not forget everything that has happened. She could not erase the pain from her heart. That is why she built up a huge wall of anger and hatred in her heart to protect her from another pain, to keep her from believing in love again, and to keep her from falling in love. Love is the reason why she was suffering in agony. Because of that, Her mother was fooled by her father She loves her family so much that when it was ruined, she was too.

"Jada, your hands." said her brother, Reylan.

He is currently driving their mother's car while glancing at her hands. She was suddenly snapped into reality when she heard her brother voice and it is then that she noticed her hands were balled into tight fist, her nails nearly cutting into the flesh of her palm.

She slowly relaxed her hands but she was surprised when a tear rolled into her cheeks.

Cut it out, Jada. Don't you ever let a tear drop again. She thought to herself.

"Jada, are you still thinking about those things? I thought you have moved on?" Reylan asked in concern.

"J-just drive." She curtly replied and looked away.

She puts on her earphones and played some random music so she could distract Reylan from asking her again and also, to distract herself from remembering the past.

It was already five o'clock in the afternoon when Jada and Reylan got home. Their aunt's house is now their house since their mother died because they don't have any relatives who want to keep them and no one take cares of them on their own house that's why they sold it. Also, Jada couldn't live there anymore. Not after everything that had happened.

Upon arriving, Jada immediately went to her room. She takes off her shoes and socks and then lunged to her bed.

"My bed! You really is a luxury after a long and tiring day." She groaned as she positioned herself comfortably on the bed and then she slowly drifted away into deep slumber.

Jada found herself awakening from the bright light coming from her window. It was the kind of light you will see every eight o'clock in the morning. Bright yet soft.

She smiled.

She already knew that by this time, breakfast is already done and her mom will come and knock on her door calling her name that makes her heart warm, and after that she will heard a knock on the door. And when she will open the door, her mom will hug her while smiling then kisses her on the forehead.

That is a routine for them, so she waited for a footfall then a knock.

But a couple of minutes had passed and nothing happens. She was starting to get irritated by the silence.

"Patience, Jada" She murmured to herself. "Mom will surely knock at any moment."

So she waited. But then, a couple of minutes had passed, yet there was no one knocking on the door. Disappointed, she got out of her room and headed to the kitchen.

She was about to throw tantrums on her mom the moment she reached the kitchen when she saw nothing. No woman with an apron and spatula on the hand. No smoke. Nothing. Only the empty kitchen.

"She didn't only forget our routine, but also our breakfast? Great, mom. Great." She murmured. She was now really disappointed by her mom.

She's stomping her feet as she approach her mother's bedroom. She knocked heavily.

"Mom! Why haven't you prepared our breakfast yet? I'm going to be late on school!" She shouted as she knocked heavily.

"Mom! Can't you hear me?!" Without asking, she opened the door and she was surprised that it wasn't locked.

"Mo-" She was taken aback. She couldn't believe what her eyes is seeing. Her face became pail and she couldn't even move from her place.

Her mother was hanging near the window with a rope tied in her neck from the ceiling. With the abundant light, she could clearly see the absence of life on her mother's face.

"Mom." She uttered under her breath. Her hands trembled and her tears rolled on her cheeks.

"Mom, no!" She walked slowly towards her mom.

"Noooooooooooo!" She was breathing really hard and crying. Suddenly, the door of her bedroom flung open.

Reylan and Aunt Rhondell came rushing in, concern evident on their faces. Reylan immediately hugged her, trying to calm her sister down. She was crying and breathing so hard.

Why did you do that, mom? Why did you left me? Jada thought for the hundredth time.

She couldn't stop herself from crying. Her dream made everything that has happened feel fresh. Like it was just happened right now, in this moment.

"Sshh. It's alright Jada. It's alright, I'm here. I will never leave you" Reylan said to Jada as he tries to calm her down. He looked at Aunt Rhondell and they exchanged pained look. It hurts the two of them seeing Jada hasn't recovered yet.
