I blinked my eyes open and tried to get my vision back into focus. It took a few tries, but I got it. I saw a nurse standing to the side, reading off the monitor at the side of the room and copying down the information. I then realized how thirsty I was as I began choking on my dry throat. She spun around and gasped.
"Oh! Mr. Newton, you're up." she said in shock as she handed me a glass of water. I gulped it down before returning the cup.
"Clearly." I said. I heard crying outside the door and it hit me. I'm in the hospital. I blinked and focused myself onto where on my body I felt pain. My ankle. I looked down and saw it in a cast.
"Newton, you are extremely lucky." the lady said. "You were found by an elderly lady who lived across the street from you. You were found under an open window of your house. Now, would you care to tell me why this happened?" I shook my head. The nurse sighed. "Well, good news and bad news." She began, sitting on the foot of my bed. "Good news, you're almost fully recovered. Bad news- there's two parts. One, you are going to be stuck with a limp for most- if not the rest of- your life." She said. I grimaced and stared at my leg. "Bad news part two, you won't be going home for a while." She said.
"Why? Did I forget to pay the bills?" I asked. She shook her head.
"No. You are being placed into Rosebleak Mental Ward. You are going to stay for a six to eight month rehab and therapy with others in a similar state of mind." She said. I sent her an 'are you serious' look and she nodded.
"I just need for you to sign here and then I can get a cab to send you over." she said. I would argue, but I had no need. Plus, this lady was starting to get on my nerves. I dunno why, but she is. I took the clipboard and scribbled a signature on the line.
"Thanks, Newton. I'll have you brought over within the hour." The nurse said. She handed me a stack of clothes. "Get dressed."
