Since he could remember, Scott has always associated people and things with colors. He would hear a song and the color blue may cloud his mind, or he may see someone on the street and imagine a world of violet. He knows no different than his colorful world. The only color he has never seen from a song, a person, or perhaps even a number, is the color red. He has seen the color red before, but there is no association with it for him. It is simply red, nothing else. The number 0 is blue, his mother is violet, but red is simply red. He's never put much thought into why he doesn't see red as anything more than itself while all of the other colors contain an endless symbol of everything he encounters because he doesn't care to know.

When Scott was first learning his shapes and numbers he would always point to the numbers and say, "This one is.." and name whatever color he was associating with it. This alarmed teachers and convinced them that he was not properly learning, so they made his parents aware of what was happening and as any parent would, they searched the internet to find out what their son may be thinking. They found an article on a 'disorder' called Synesthesia. The way his parents explained it to him was that while most people didn't see it, he would have a little light show in his head while listening to music or reading. He was alarmed by this due to his belief that everyone experienced it the same way he did. In the end, he got though the rougher stages of elementary school and was soon no longer bothered by his excessively colorful mind.
