Ch-3 Fun At Highschool

By the end of the day Char had got to know more about Nico and had warmed up to him. Like Percy, Nico had groaned at the epitome of Char's knowledge.

"Now we have another Annabeth," he had huffed.

"And a chatterbox", Percy added, and got smacked.

Nico didn't seem bad to Char. He was just a little shy and mostly uninterested in things.

Percy was just happy that now he had a demigod friend to talk with. But he was also concerned about the security of the school. Two demigod offsprings of Poseidon and Hades were surely going to lure monsters. Lost in his own thoughts, Percy started gathering his books but soon came back to earth.

"You forget everything!" Char exclaimed, trying to snap him out of his thoughts.

"Don't you want to go swimming?"

Percy mentally scolded himself. How could he have forgotten such a basic necessity of life!

"Um... I'll see you two later then", Nico said, awkwardly and stepped back but Char grabbed hold of his hand, making him jump.

"No. You are going to come with us,"she declared.

"No", Nico said, sharply while glaring at her.

"Yes", Char said, defiantly matching his glare.

Percy watched the show with amusement. Had he mentioned Char was really stubborn?

"I hate the water", Nico scowled, still trying to get out of her grip.

"Why?" Char demanded.
"It's not like you are going to find any underwater monsters in the swimming pool!"

Nico raised an eyebrow. Oh the irony.

"No", Nico stated firmly.
"I have my reasons."

"Well they don't seem valid enough! Don't force me to make you come", Char threatened

Nico's lip curled in amusement.
"You can try."

Char smirked.
"Challenge accepted", she said and with one swift movement she flipped Nico upside down.

"Whoa", Nico yelped and cursed in Greek.

Percy shook his head.
"I know, it hurts. She did that to me when I didn't let her have the last chocolate muffin."
He was only half joking.

Nico grunted and tried to squirm out his way from her grip.

"You're strong", he scowled.

"Gym class", she said proudly.

"Now don't make me drag you to the swimming pool."

Nico grumbled as he got up and muttered a fine.

Char's face lit up. "Okay then. See you there in ten! If you don't come you can get ready to be my practice dummy."

"She is quite similar to Annabeth", Percy observed.

"More likely Clarisse" Nico sighed. He coukd have melted into the shadows but that would probably have freaked Charlotte.

"Is she always like that?"

Percy chuckled. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it. We had better go unless we want some broken bones."

Char was easy to spot at the swimming pool. Wearing a dark blur swimsuit, she was frantically waving her hands to catch their attention.

"She doesn't have to be so excited for everything", Nico grimaced.

Much against his will, he was wearing blue boxers, similar to that of Percy's.

"Took you long enough", Char said impatiently.

"Race me to the end", Percy grinned, challenging her.

"Ready", Char grinned, smirking at him.

With a flash the two of them were in the water. Char was good for a swimmer but she was no match for Percy who literally flew across the pool, coming up only once for air. Well he had to, for show's sake.

Percy waved at the gaping students as he came up at the other end.

A few seconds later, Char reemerged.

"Wow", she gasped, slightly out of breath.

"You should definitely try for the school team!"

On the other hand, Nico was lurking around the edge of the pool, muttering some profanities.

Percy smirked and whispered something into Char's ear who responded with a grin.

"Hey Jake", Char called out to a scrawny guy with dark skin, black eyes and a mop of sandy hair.

She trained her eyes on Nico and twirled her finger.

"Got it", he yelled back, a mischievous grin on his face

"The prankster of the class", Char notified Percy as they swam swiftly towards their unsuspecting prey.

Nico was definitely not enjoying. He knew Poseidon wouldn't hold any grudge against him but he didn't want to take any chances. He never should have listened to Charlotte.

Besides, he couldn't see either her or Percy anywhere inside the pool.

"Now is my chance to escape", he muttered, and started edging backwards. To Tartarus with Charlotte and her karate.

But suddenly, he felt a pair of hand upon him. He didn't even have the time to yell for the next second he found himself deep inside the water.

And just as he was about to surface he was flung into the air as if sitting above a fountain.

Upon splashing back into the water, spluttering and cussing, he heard laughter and giggles and turned to see Charlotte and Percy holding onto their sides.

"Not funny", Nico said,glaring at the two, especially Percy.

"Are you kidding", Char spluttered.

"That was epic! It almost seemed as if the water had decided to throw him out!"

That subdued Percy's laughter.

"Must have been a trick of your eyes", he said, with a shrug and Char nodded, still giggling.

"I have had enough", Nico stated.

"You guys coming or not?"

Percy and Char shook their heads in unison and Nico just sighed.

Life seemed to be so more interesting for Char with Percy and Nico. Little did she know that there was much more to be seen.
