Ch-4 Char's House

The next day Char surprised Percy.

"Want to hang out at my home?" she asked, randomly.

Percy's eyes widened.
"Umm sure?"

"Your face looked as if it had just had a crash with Zeus's masterbolt", Nico said, as Char went towards her locker.

"It's just that she is rather sensitive about her family", Percy whispered.

"I have never visited her house and I don't even know her parent's name."

Nico shrugged.
"Everyone has some secrets."

"Are you two going to whisper all day or come along?" Char demanded.

Nico and Percy just looked at each other and followed her.

Char's house looked pretty cool. It wasn't much. It had a dining room, three bedrooms and of course a kitchen. It was neither scarcely decorated nor lavishly. Just plain and sweet.

"I like it", Percy announced.

"Thanks", Char said, with a smile but something seemed off about her.

"So where are your parents?"Nico asked.

"Dad is busy in his work and mom had to go shopping", Char answered, nonchalantly.

"What work does he do?" Percy asked casually.

"Nothing interesting...... come on, I'll show you my room", Char said, abruptly.

"She really doesn't know how to change the topic", Percy whispered to Nico as they entered her room.

It had pale blue walls with an oak study table in one corner and a bed in the other. There was a window in the middle of the room and one whole wall was taken up by a huge bookshelf with hundreds of books but the walls were bare, save for one picture of Char and a little girl who looked about five with curly brown hair, rosy cheeks and lively black eyes.

"Who's she?" Nico asked.

"Me", a squeaky voice came from behind.

Nico and Percy turned to see the girl from the picture standing behind them. She looked the same except for her white frock with multicoloured flowers.

"Hi", she said, sweetly looking up at them.
"I'm Char's little sister."

"You have a sister?" Percy and Nico asked in unison.

"You never mentioned her", Percy said, turning to look at her.

"Well, yes. Her name is Anna. She's the reason you are here. I don't like to babysit her alone. She can be very troublesome", Char said, avoiding Percy's question.

"No way!", Percy said.
"She's such a cutie!"

Nico nodded in agreement, as Anna grinned at him with big adorable eyes

Char smirked. Time would tell them who is right.

Nico groaned. He had endured years of training at camps, five minutes of Tartarus and gods knew what other tortures but nothing could have prepared him for this.

"Faster", Anna yelled, giggling as she pulled his hair.

Nico made a mental note to never give Anna a horseback ride. He had taken about 50 rounds of the room on his knees, which were sore and his back was ready to break.

"Believe me now?" Char asked with a smirk.

Nico looked up. "Definitely" he answered, gritting his teeth.

"NO", Anna shrieked suddenly, and got off Nico's back. Nico heaved a sigh of relief and thanked the gods for the safety of his hair as he saw Anna run towards Percy who had been told to dress up Anna's dolls.

"Sarah has to wear the green dress and Mary has to wear the blue one!"

Nico stifled a laugh as he saw how Percy had "dressed up" the life size doll, the dress stuck at her head.

"The dress has a zip at the back", Char chuckled at the baffled Percy.

"This is Sarah!", Anna said shrilly.

"Then who is that?" Percy pointed to an identical doll.

"That's Mary."

"How am I supposed to differentiate between them?" Percy asked, crossing his eyebrows in frustration.

"Sarah's hair are shorter," Char said helpfully.

"How much short?"

"Oh just one finger shorter", she said nonchalantly and Percy let out a groan.

"My horseback!" Anna cried and Nico looked at Char.

"When will your mom come back?" he grunted.

"Quite soon," Char said.
"In about an hour...."

"AN HOUR!" Percy and Nico cried.

"Yaaay!" Anna yelled.

"We can play more!"

Char laughed as they looked at Anna with despair. Now who was the cutie?

So.... it was a short and hilarious chapter!

The next one will be.... different
