Marcus stares at me with fear-filled eyes. "No. It isn't possible. You can't possibly have his powers!" He presses his back roughly against the wall as if it could offer some protection. I trun to see both Mark and Alistar staring at me with wide eyes; Mark's eyes filled with awe while Alistar's a mixture of fear and intrigue. I just give them both a wink. "Cool huh?"
The pair continue to stare at me with mixed emotions but I just turn my attention back to Marcus. He flinches away from my stare and I feel satisfaction. He's afraid of me. "Now. What where you saying about my mother?" I ask in a deadly voice. He swallows loudly; his entire body quivering in fear.
After a few seconds, his jaw hardens and he meets my eyes. "I'm not afraid of you or your fancy powers. You will never defeat Garbaroth. He has had centuries to train and strengthen his powers. You have only just discovered yours and are too naive to use them effectively. I'll never tell you anything." His voice is shaking but he stubbornly refuses to look away.
Well that's just great. It's obvious that he's afraid of me but he is still refusing to tell me what I want to know. How am I supposed to make him talk now? Perhaps since fear didn't work, pain will. Truth be told I have never actuaklly tortured someone before but I'm sure I'll be able to manage.
"Ester, torture is not the answer. Not to this situation. Marcus feels that you lack the experiance to stand up to Garbaroth and he will not share any information with you until you prove him wrong. He is so close to revealing the truth to us. You just have to apply a little more pressure in the right space."
I know that! I have already shown him all the power I have. How am I suppose to prove that I am more experiance than Garbaroth?! In order to do that I would have to be much older than Garbaroth himself and to have seen more than he.....Oh.
"Yes dear child. I am far older than the dragon king and have seen much more of the world. If I speak through you again, we can prove to him that you have experiance far beyond your years. I am sure he has heard the stories as you have.In fact he may even know parts of the prophecy that you didn't know thanks to his father."
Ok. Taini does have a point. Marcus probably does know all about her and the prophecy but I can't help the worry that knaws at me. "Taini? Do you think that you will be able to speak to him through me? The last time you had to, um, 'rest' for a while. What if this time is worse?"
She remains silent for a few moments. "I'm just going to have to do my best. As I said, I have more experiance and have seen more of this world than anyone. This is the best way to show Marcus that you are more powerful than he even knows. Don't you worry. I will be able to do this for you."
I'm not worried about whether she'll be able to do it or now. I'm worried about her over-exerting herself o hurting herself. I don't even know if she can hurt herself but that doesn't stop the worreing feeling in my stomach.
"Fine but the minute you feel fatigue you withdraw. I don't want you to be over working yourself okay?" After a brief hesitation she agrees and a strange pulling sensation overcomes me. It almost feels as though I am sinking in honey. How strange.
Almost as soon as it begins the feeling dissappates and I realise that Taini has taken control of my voice. My gave returns to Marcus who pales and shies away from me. "No. It cannot be true. You can't be the one. I don't believe in prophecy," he whispers softly. His fear has increased to a point that I can actually smell it. I'm making him sweat. Good.
"Well well Ester. Who knew that you would have the power to control fire? Such a fascinating feeling; despite the flames her hands feel cold. Tell me Marcus, would you like to experiance it?" she asks Marcus through my voice.
