"Don't work on my nerves today Zoey, you know I'm not in the mood! I've got tons of homework and I have to stay after school for a project!" came the 'sweet and loving' voice of my best friend Samantha (a.k.a. Sam). The girl can't even go a day without complaining about how much work she has to do.
You see me complaining? No.
"You're never going to do it anyway" I replied, biting on my apple as we walked out of the classroom. It was break now and everyone was buzzing around. I was honestly too hungry to wait until break to eat so I ate in class. I don't even know how the teacher didn't notice. As far as I know, eating apples are loud thing to do.
"Besides, you'll be the only one staying after school." I shrugged.
Sam shook her head, causing strands of her dark hair to fall out of her bun."But at least I care about my grades, unlike the rest of the class, including you." She stopped in front of her locker, opened it up and put her books in it. Following her daily routine, she fixed her hair in a little mirror on the inside, while I threw the apple remains out of a window nearby.
What? It helps with plants and stuff right? Whatever.
I just stood there, dumbfounded, no way on earth to reply to her comeback, "So I decided to bite back with the most 'Zoey' way possible: Uhm... Yeah... Well, come on, I'm getting hungry!"
Looking out the window, at the apple remains I just threw out, she shook her head and frowned at me, "You just ate Zoey."
I nodded, "Hmm, I know, but I'm still hungry."
She sighed, "Fine, but don't ask me to butter you up when you can't fit through doors two years from now."
"Ha. We'll see about that."
She grabbed my arm and we walked outside to the side of the school. The place was one big piece of lawn. It was greener than green with trees on the side for a bit of shade. Honestly, it was beautiful, apart from the rest of the school that looked like a complete dump. Next to the lawn was a huge wall. I never knew what was on the other side and didn't care either.
I heard Sam yell to someone next to her. "Hey, personal space here buddy! Do not walk right next to me! I will personally rip every delicate area from your body and feed it to wild monkeys!"
Wild monkeys? Well, that's a first.
I looked to my right and saw that it was a guy (quite good looking if I may add), he was about two years older than me. He looked startled from the response he got from walking too close to Sam though.
I slapped her on her shoulder and turned my gaze to him. "I'm so sorry for my friend's horrifying -yet awesome- threats, she's been like this the whole day. She's like that some days, well, most days." Sam glared at me, shaking her head.
All of us stopped walking and he looked at me with his (beautiful) big brown eyes. He gave me a smile. "I understand" he looked at Sam again "No offense, but please don't shout at me like that again. It's scary."
Sam closed her eyes and shook her head again. "I can't promise you anything".
He smiled again, nodded and walked off onto the lawn to meet up with a friend of his. Sam surprised me by following him and I had no choice but to follow her as well. When the guy reached his friend, he turned around and saw us. Sam stuck out her arm. "I'm Sam by the way. Thanks for asking. You seem nice"
He looked puzzled, but shook her hand anyway. "Blake" He looked over at his friend. "And uhm, this is Ryan."
The guy Blake introduced us as Ryan was even better looking than his friend. He had even darker eyes than Blake and had dark hair, unlike Blake who had blondish hair. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was a model or something.
