Niall's POV

"Have you called your mum yet?" I asked Liam.

"Yeah. She is on her way. She went to visit my dad's grave", Liam said.

"I am going to call her", I said.

He nodded.

Just as I was about to press call I heard the door open.

"Niall? Liam?" She asked with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Hey mum", Liam said and hugged her.

"Is everything alright?" She asked.

"You didn't tell her?" I questioned.

"This isn't something you say on the phone", he said.

"What isn't?" She asked frantically.

"I was really stress and... I-I lost our s-son", I sobbed.

"You lost Cadence?" Karen asked.

"Yes", Liam said. I could tell he wanted to cry but he wasn't letting himself.

"What about Abigail and Naya?" she asked.

"They are okay", I said.

"At least they are okay", She said.

"Mum... We named Cadence Noah after Niall's childhood friend Cadence. He is deceased. He died of cancer when him and Niall we 16. They were friends for 13 years. We named Cadence so we could honor him. We lost Cadence Noah now though", Liam explained.

"Oh sweetie", she said. Karen pulled me in for a hug.

"I am okay. It is just a lot to take in", I said.

"Hey mum... Why don't we talk about ideas for the nursery?" Liam suggested.

"Sure", she said. She grabbed her bag and walked back to us.

"I have paint samples for you", she said.

She handed us a few paint samples in a range of colors.

"I like the first green column on the 2 row from the top", I said.

"I agree. It is really pretty. We can add little stars and shapes", Liam said. He sounded like a fangirl.

"Yes", I said.

Me and Liam spent the rest of the day telling Karen everything we wanted for our nursery.

"So a Green crib and a yellow crib, green walls, blue carpet, orange closets, and a pink door?" She asked.

"That is what we want", I said with a nod.

"Alright. I will get it prepared for you", she said.

"Thank you, Karen", I said. This is the first time I have felt genuinely happy since we lost Cadence two days ago.

"Call me mum", she said.

"Thank you, mum", I said.

"You get some rest. You have to go back to work next week but Liam has to go back tomorrow", Karen said.

"Okay. Good night mum", Liam said.

"Night", she replied. She shut off the light and walked out.

I love Karen. I wonder how everything will be after this. At least the students never knew about Cadence... I am sure Liam or someone will tell them but, I think everything will be fine. My students are amazing and I love them. I guess we will learn in a week.
