Sean POV

I was alone, the house quiet. I slumped into my couch, my eyes drifting shut with a smile. Why did it feel so empty, though? Before y/n, it seemed to be alright to be alone. Now, there was an empty part inside me. I sighed, my smile fading. I needed company.

I dashed upstairs and into the attic, the soft green glow of Sam's container calming me. He noticed me and looked over, giving me a little waggle of his tail.

"Heya, Sammy." I knelt by his tank, faceplanting onto the glass.

He gave me a look, questioning me.

"I miss her... I think that's what it is." I sighed, leaning against the tank a bit more. He seemed to sigh too, swimming up to the lid and bumping it, wanting out. I stood, opening it and scooping him out into my hands. He gave me a stern, encouraging look.

"Sammy, what?" I sat cross-legged in front of the tank. He slapped my hand with his tail, "Sammy-" then he gave me another look. "If you think I need to call her-" He slapped my hand again, "Sam, what is it you want me to do? You're acting like a counselor..." I sighed. With a roll, he hopped off my hands and shifted human, sitting beside me.

"Jack, you love her. Face it, you can't stop thinking about her, can you?" he asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah... guess you're right." I looked at my feet, the bottoms of my socks a bit dirty. "Thanks, Sam." I hugged him fully. He did the same.

"Anytime, Jack. Now, it's gettin' dark. It's better if you get some sleep."

"But-"

"No, sleep. Got it? And don't be on your phone, I can always come and check."

I smiled and chuckled, "Yes, mum." He gently slugged my arm, letting me go as he turned back into the little eyeball he always was.

I scooped him up and plopped him back into his tank, closing the lid.

"Good night, Sam. Sweet dreams." Then I headed down the attic stairs and into my room.
