We started to walk as we talked about nothing and about everything. The school started to seem small. I was very anxious... I didn't know what she had in mind. Where was she going to take me?
- Where are we going? - I asked.
- I've a plan. Don't worry about it. - She said while she smiled.
We walked for 20 minutes I think. We stopped in front of an abandoned house.
- What are we doing here Alex? - I asked a bit scared.
- Come. - She answered.
She took my hand and pushed me. We got in. I started to feel more scared. Why did we just break in that house? I start to think that she is totally crazy.
After a couple steps she stopped walking.
- A...A...Alex? - I said.
- Calm down Johnnie. It's completly safe. I come here everyday
She what? How could anyone go to that place every single day?!
- I come here to take a break of everything and everyone. I find it very peaceful.
We walked into a room that seem to be the kitchen. She sat down on an old chair, that threat to break anytime soon. She putted her hand on one of her jacket's pockets. She took a picture out of there.
- I found this last week, on one of the bedrooms. I think that this was the family that lived here. - She said as she handed me the picture.
I sat on the chair next to hers.
It was very old, black and white, a little ripped on the side. In the picture there were six people. Two adults, probably the mother and the father. And four children, one girl and three boys, probably the adults' kids.
- They seem very happy! - I said.
- Yeah, right? But take a look at this. I found it next to the picture.
It was a page from the newspaper. "22th September 1950". It showed a picture of the house back then. Very pretty and inviting. The article they talked to the mother. She explained what happen on that day. Apparently, that family wasn't like the picture. Her husband had stabbed her and her 15 years old daughter, because he drank too much. There was a fight between the father and the older brother, that was 20. A lot of things broke, and I lot of screams were yield. Her husband went to jail. She and her dauhgter went to the hospital, but her kid didn't survive. The 5 years old twins and the older brother got out of there safely.
- Wow... - Was the only thing I could say.
- See, not everything is how it seems. - She said.
That was an incredible lesson, but I still couldn't get what we were there doing.
I asked her. She smiled.
- First step, convice Johnnie to get out of school; checked. Second step, teach him something a bit boring but that might make him see thing diferently; check. - She read out a paper she had on one pocket.
- Alright. - I laughed.- What's next?!
- Third step, eat.
Eat?! That was a step? Alright then. She keeps making less sense...
I listened a crack. Then another one. After a couple more, I found myself on the floor. The chair broke... Yey... Alex started to laugh.
- So, the chair is dead. - I said starting to laugh too.
