"Ladies and gentlemen! Today is a very important day indeed. Today is are 25th anniversary for the purge. Over these 25 years we have developed as a country. We have become less stressed, and if I do say so myself much more happy. But still some struggle. Also many people do not participate as much anymore. Therefor sense it is the 25th anniversary of the purge we have decided to put a little twist.
Our first change will be, all people can participate. Their is no longer an age limit. The children and elders can now participate in the event.
Guns and fire are now prohibited. You kill with your hands or knives. It makes the killing much more intimate.
You can only kill up to 10 people, so choose wisely. Like always you do not need to have a purpose for killing someone. But, I suggest not killing a random stranger, unless you want their family to track you down, and kill you in the next purge.
Those are the few new changes to the purge. But, stay tuned during the purge, because we may add a few obstacles and twist.
Like always you are to not kill the president during the purge. If you do try or succeed at killing the president, then you and everyone else you know will either be killed or punished.
The purge will begin at 9p.m tonight, and end tomorrow night at 9.
May you all have a great purge. Whether you choose to participate or not.
Save your soul."
I looked at my mother and then at my father. My mom looked nervous, and so did my dad.
"Someone has to go get jake." My mom muttered. Jake was my younger brother. He was currently at soccer practice. It was still 5 hours until the purge. So things where going the way it usually would. Just like a normal day. But this day always made me sick. The day where everyone can go on a killing spree, and nobody cares. It's more common to die in the purge then it is to die from some type of disease. Thankfully my parents don't believe in the purge. They keep my brother and I under lock and key. They never once participated, and they expect their kids to not participate either.
"Aubree you need to go pick up jake, I want him home before the sun starts to set." My mom said sternly. She still had the look of nervousness, and I didn't blame her. She's been living in this for almost all of her life. Considering she's only 42, and when she was 17 that's when the purge first started. I'm 17 right now, and I don't know why but she's extra nervous for me this year. It's not like anything special happens when you're 17 during the purge.
"Aubree your mother asked you to go pick up your brother." My dad said, snapping me out of my trance.
"Oh right, sorry." I said quickly, before getting up.

I pulled up in front of the school. I got out of the car, and started to walk to the soccer field. I saw a few people I knew. They where doing the same thing as me. Picking their little siblings up, I gave them a slight smile and continued to walk. I came to the soccer field, and my brother was sitting with all of his friends taking off his cleats. He smiled at me and mouthed 'Ill be right their' I nodded my head, and sat down on a bench. I saw three coaches standing together looking at a clip board. Two of the coaches where fathers, and somewhere in there forties.
The other coach was a kid my age. His name was Louis Tomlinson. He was only an assistant for the soccer team, because he has to do some community hours for god knows what.. As I said before he was in my grade. I barely ever saw him at school though. But when he did come to school he would always make an entrance. He would ride up on his loud motorcycle in a leather jacket, with usually dark pants, and a pissed off face. He was a stereotypical "bad boy". Girls thought he was hot, but all of them new they would never have a chance with him. And the boys could honestly care less about Louis. They just thought he was a faggot.
I remember today at lunch we where discussing who will probably be killed tonight. And almost everyone said it would be Louis Tomlinson, and a few other people. I wonder if he really will be killed.. If this will be the last time I ever see him. I wouldn't really mind, it's not like he was important in my life.
Louis started to walk over to me. I
realized that I was staring at him, so I snapped myself out of it, and looked away.
"Hey." His soft yet harsh voice spoke. I turned to look at him.
"Um hi.."
"Where you just staring at me?"
"What?" I felt panicked, I thought he wasn't paying any attention to me!
"Nothing, um anyways," he started to ramble on.
Their was something in his eyes. He didn't look nervous or scared. He just looked ready. Like he knew what was coming for him tonight.
"I wanted to tell you that your brother is really good, he might even be able to move up a level!"
"That's great!" I could honestly care less.. I didn't know anything about soccer.
But, I've heard Louis is a big soccer player, or should I say "football" player.. I never really understood why Louis' family would move to North America. He use to live in the United Kingdom, but all of a sudden 4 years ago he became the new kid. I mean why would someone want to move here after they know about the purge? Because after you move here, or already live here, you're not aloud to leave.. Ever.
"Yeah, so if you could tell your parents that jake might be able to move up a level that would be great!"
"Yeah sure, know problem!"
Even though I barely knew Louis, he still made me really scared. I'm not usually one to judge so quickly. But, he didn't make the best first impression.. The first time I ever really met him, was when he came late to my brothers soccer practice, and he was high.. I heard he didn't really do drugs or smoke anymore though, but I also heard he was an alcoholic.
Even though a lot of people at my school could care less about Louis. Their where still a lot of rumors about him.
"Hey Bree can we go home now." I looked down and saw my little brother their. He held his smelly cleats in one hand, and had his soccer bag swung over his shoulder.
"Um yeah, let's go. Oh and thanks Louis, I'll tell my parents."
"Yeah no problem." I gave him a small fake smile and started to walk away.
Ugh, I forgot. I might as well be a civilized person even though this is the least civilized day. I turned back around.
"Hey Louis!" He stopped walking and faced me.
"Yeah?"
"Be safe tonight." I said sort of sincerely.
He seemed to have given me a real Louis Tomlinson smile.
"Yeah you too." I tried my best to give him a real smile back, but it just felt kind of forced. I turned back around, and walked away with jake.
