I was leaving my flat to go see Amber when I got a call from the hospital.

"Hello?" I answered.

"She is awake," a woman said.

My heart skipped a beat, and I softly said, "What?"

"She's awake and she's asking for you."

I couldn't believe it! Amber was awake, and she was asking for me!

"I'm on my way," I said and hung up.

I got to the hospital and ran to her room. When I got in there, I couldn't believe my eyes. She was actually awake and sitting up! She looked tired, but she looked so much better than she did the first day she was there.

I ran over to her and hugged her.

"Amber, I'm so glad you're awake! I've been so worried about you. I haven't been able to sleep, eat, or even focus on my music for the past six months," I confessed.

"I'm assuming that you're Calum," she said, and that broke my heart. She had no idea who I was, but she remembered my name. That's something.

I nodded and said, "Yeah, I've been coming here everyday since the accident just so I could talk to you. I wanted you to at least be able to remember my name, even if you couldn't remember anything else."

For a while, we talked about who she was before the accident, and she asked about me. I told her about the band and her part in it.

Then, she asked the question, "What exactly happened in this accident you keep talking about?"

I was silent for a few seconds. I didn't want to give her too much at one time.

"Please tell me," she said desperately.

I sighed and told her what happened. That her mother was killed, and she was in a coma for 6 months.

"Wait... so, my mum is dead?" she asked and I saw a tear fall down her face.

"That's not fair! I may not remember my mum, but now I'll never get the chance to try!" she yelled and started sobbing.

I quickly sat on the bed with her, wrapped my arms around her, and held her tight.

She buried her face in my chest as she kept sobbing.

"What's gonna happen to me? Where am I gonna go?" she asked.

"You and your brother are going to live with me and my family," I said.

"N-No I d-don't want to be a burden on anyone," she stuttered.

I put my index finger and thumb on her chin and made her eyes look into mine, I never noticed those amazing green eyes before. "I don't want to hear you say that again. You are not a burden, and you never will be. Besides, we practically lived together before any of this."

She laughed a little, "Well, when you put it that way... I guess I can live with you all, at least until I turn 18."

I smiled and kissed her forehead.

After a few days, Amber was released from the hospital. I took her to her flat so that she could pack up her stuff. I had to help her a little. She got a little lost in the flat.

"Um, Calum?" she said.

"Yeah?" I asked.

Her cheeks started to turn red, and she said, "I don't know where I'm going..."

I laughed a little, "Don't worry, I'll show you."

We went through the tiny hallway until we were finally at her bedroom door. I was about to open the door when she tripped on something. She was about to fall, but I caught her in my arms.

She looked up at me and said, "Thanks."

Our faces were only inches away from each other, and we just stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like forever.

"No problem," I said.

We smiled and just kept looking at each other. For some reason, I wanted to kiss her. I didn't know why, but I'd felt different around her since she woke up from her coma. It wasn't a bad different, it was more like a we-were-getting-to-know-each-other-all-over-again different. Even my feelings toward her were changing.

Before I could even think about what I was doing, I leaned in.

I noticed that she was leaning in, too. Before I knew it, we were kissing. It felt amazing, but I knew I probably shouldn't have kissed her. We had known each other for years, but she forgot all of that. She basically just met me a few days before that, but I didn't want to stop.

I cupped her face with my hands, and she put her hands on my biceps.

After a few seconds, I forced myself to stop.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that," I said sadly.

"Why? What's wrong? Oh no, am I a bad kisser!?" she asked, and I chuckled.

"No, it's not that at all. It's just, you basically just met me a few days ago. I mean, yeah, we've known each other for years, but you forgot all of that."

"When I woke up, I felt a connection to you. I may have only known your name, but it was almost like I could feel your presence, you know?" she said, and she had a point.

"It wasn't right for me to have just kissed you like that, though. I don't really know what came over me," I confessed.

"Maybe you've always loved me and just didn't realize it until after the accident," she said, and my eyes widened.

"Maybe you're right, I mean I never imagined being more than friends with you until recently. However, I'm not sure if you ever loved me," I said, surprising myself.

"I think maybe I did, and still do. When I first saw you after I woke up, I was immediately attracted to you. Your tattoos, your dark hair, your amazing chocolate brown eyes, your smile, your muscular biceps. I also somehow knew that I could trust you," she said, and I couldn't help but kiss her again.

********

After we got all of her stuff packed and loaded into my mum's van, some guy pulled in. He was ginger, tall, thin, and wore glasses. Once he got out of his car, he went straight to Amber and hugged her. She looked really uncomfortable, so I stepped up.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked.

The guy looked at me like he just noticed my existence. "Who the hell are you?" he retorted.

"Am I supposed to know you?" Amber spoke.

He looked at her with hurt in his eyes.

"Amber, babe, it's me, Ryan," the guy said.

'Babe!?' I thought to myself.

"I'm sorry, I still don't know who you are," Amber said.

"Ryan? Your boyfriend?" Ryan said, and I froze.

Amber and I looked at each other spoke at the same time.

"I have a boyfriend!?"

"You have a boyfriend!?"

"Yes, she has a boyfriend, so whatever move you're trying on her, it's not going to work!" Ryan said to me.

I felt so angry. "You know what? Don't worry about it, mate. We're just friends."

Amber looked at me with shock.

"Cal-"

I cut her off, and walked away angrily.
