I'm standing in the middle of this hotel lobby and there's a million thoughts rushing through my mind. So many questions and doubts, and not a single answer.
What were we going to talk about over dinner?
How was I going to greet him when he comes down? Do I hug him? Handshake?
Do I call him Yoandri or Yoyo?
What if he has a girlfriend back home?
I was in the middle of trying to gather my thoughts and there he is, walking straight ahead from where I stood. His hair was perfectly coiffed back, he was wearing a black v neck shirt and a jean jacket. His gorgeous eyes made contact with mine, and I saw a little smile creep up on his face. I smiled back but I felt like I had smiled the goofiest smile in the world.
I forced myself to speak, "Hey Yoandri," I say as I wave to him. "Ready for dinner?" I ask as I gesture towards the doors.
He flashes that beautiful pearly white smile at me, nods and says "Definitely ready" as he holds the door open for me.
We walk outside, and I lead him to the car. He asks me, "What's for dinner?" He says, with a chuckle.
"I hope you're hungry and like Mexican food, because it's a buffet style restaurant," I tell him.
"Haha, I can't get enough of Mexican food, I hope the buffet doesn't run out of food once I start digging in," he jokes around.
"I'll be surprised to see the buffet run out because of you, you're so skinny, you have nowhere to put the food," I say, poking some fun back. He raises a perfect dark eyebrow at me, and just laughs.
I smile as I reach into my pocket for my keys, and I unlock the car. We climb in the car, only to find my little sister blasting her music through the car's Bluetooth speakers.
"Turn it down, won't you Soph?" I ask, extra sweetly.
"BUT I LOVE TORI KELLY" exclaimed Yoyo as he sat down in the passenger seat.
I know you do, but you don't know that I creepily know everything about you.
"In any case, that's my sister Sophia" I tell him, he waves, and she waves back while still singing along to "Nobody Love".
I'm already driving off, and I catch Yoandri trying to inconspicuously turning the volume up on Tori Kelly with a smirk on his face. I can't say it out loud for obvious reasons but gosh he looks so adorable trying to be sneaky.
Don't get distracted while driving. You'll make a wrong turn and it's already late enough. But it's so hard to not look at him.
It felt like a shorter ride than it should have been, in between the little comments here and there, as well as him singing along to the occasional song my sister was playing. My heart was feeling a warmth that I wish wouldn't ever come to an end.
I enter the parking lot, struggling to find an empty spot because the restaurant was so full. Soph notices an empty metered spot out in front of the restaurant and I don't hesitate to park.
We get out of the car and we all walk to the restaurant door. It wasn't till we were inside smelling the food did I realize how hungry I was. I couldn't imagine how hungry Yoyo was.
"Table for three?" I say to the hostess in the restaurant's front door.
"We're full, completely booked, and our waiting list is of an hour and a half," the hostess replied.
My heart sank.
Well there goes my chance at a perfect, dream date. I feel like everything is ruined. Just my luck.
