Skye POV

I don't know how I get dragged into this.  I found myself sitting on the couch watching reruns of Doctor Who with FitzSimmons. "Is this one with Clara? I like her." Simmons laughed at my question, "no. We're going back a little while. Ten and Rose. Season Two finale." Fitz shot a concerning look at Simmons, "that's the one you cried over?" She pushed a button on the remote. "Yes, but that's not important. Skye needs to experience the pain of the TenRose ending." "But Jemma, Rose does com-" "Quiet Fitz!" They had a stare down before Jemma won and Fitz leaned back on the couch.

Fitz was right this time. Jemma and I were having a good cry on the couch before Ward walked in. "I," Rose Tyler sniffed on screen, "I love you." The Doctor flashed a faint smile on screen. "Quite right too.  And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it, Rose Tyler-" and he faded off from Rose's perspective. "NO! THAT ISN'T FAIR! THEY CAN'T JUST DO THAT! WHY?!" I screamed at Simmons. I screamed at Fitz. I also screamed at the unprepared Ward who didn't have a single clue what was going on. "Calm down Rookie. You're going to lose your voice if you keep screaming like that." I took a deep breath before I promptly dragged Ward to the couch. The fact that he didn't understand the current pain made me want to make him feel stuff too. And so, I pushed replay and it started over. Fitz sighed and let himself out as Rose started her dramatic monologue again. Throughout the episode, I saw the expression on Ward's face change several times, and I was most definitely surprised.

The final partings of the Doctor and Rose were behind us and the three of us sat in silence. "Well. I think that's enough emotion for the day," Ward gestured to the sniffling Simmons who promptly left the room. Ward looked me dead in the eye after she left. "Skye. I think there's another reason behind why you're so emotional because of this." Oh shoot. He continued, "I understand why Jemma is so distraught, but you're tougher when it comes to feelings. Do you want to tell me?" I avoided his gaze, "honestly, there's nothing wrong Ward!" He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, "you're a bad liar Skye. I think it's because you felt what Ten and Rose had, but then they couldn't be together. You're scared of losing what means the most to you."

The moment slowed down as the truth hit me. Ward was right. "Skye, look at me." I looked up but didn't look directly at him, "you have a family now. Coulson, FitzSimmons, and May. You have me. And you'll always have me." He slipped his hand into his pocket. I directed my gaze to focus on him, "do you really mean that Ward? You're not just saying things?" He took his hand out with a small banded ring that was in the pattern of little leaves. He grabbed my right hand and slipped it on. "When I say always, I mean it." And he leaned in for a final kiss. At the end of it, he left the room, leaving me with my thoughts, the ring, and my fluttering heart.
