Scott walked to the office, his anger getting worse by the minute. Why does Kirstie do this? Does she have no shame? She's been acting like since she was twelve, ever since their parents died. Scott knew that people grieved in different ways, but he couldn't stand the way that she dealt with it. The road she was going down was not good and it hurt everyone around her, including herself.

Scott shook his head and smiled at the secretary. She smiled back at at him, a bit of sympathy in her smile. Scott wanted to tell her right then and there that he didn't need sympathy. He walked into the office, glaring a bit at the back of Kirstie's head. The principal smiled and nodded at him.

"Kirstie here was caught smoking weed when she was supposed to be taking her history final," the principal informed Scott, which caused Kirstie to roll her eyes. She will be suspended this week and make up her finals when she comes back."

"Okay, thank you," Scott replied, taking Kirstie's arm. She smirked to herself and laughed a bit, only making shot squeeze her arm more. "I'm checking out. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay, see you," the principal confirmed. Scott and Kirstie walked out of the office, not talking once. Scott walked to his car and waited until Kirstie came in to began his scolding.

"This is the second time this year that you got suspended," Scott reminded her, driving to Mitch's school. She shrugged her shoulders, not caring once. "How did you even get weed? I check your room every day to make sure that you don't have it."

"It's a little thing called having a dealer," Kirstie replied in a snarky tone. "Stay out of my room, too. You don't know what could be in there. I could have tampons in there or something."

"That something could kill you, Kirstin," Scott scolded in an angry voice. He drove in front of Mitch's school, looking at his sister while shaking his head. "Stay in the car. Wait, come with me instead. That way I'll be that great brother you want me to be."

Kirstie rolled her eyes as she unbuckled her seatbelt, getting out of the car. Scott walked into the school quickly, Kirstie lagging behind him. He went to Mitch's classroom and stopped when he saw his younger brother laughing at something his translator signed. Mitch never was this around other people, but it seems like his translator made everything different for him.

Scott smiled and knocked on the door, catching the translator's attention. The translator looked at Scott and waved, causing Mitch to repeat his actions.

"Hey, Travis. How is Mitch doing?" Scott while signing. "Is he doing good?"

"As always," Travis answered, signing too. Mitch smiled shyly and looked at his feet. "He's getting better at reading lips so he probably won't need me anymore."

"That's good," Scott commented happily, looking at his brother. Mitch looked up, brushing his hair back. *Mitch, we're going home. Kirstie got suspended.*

*Again?* Mitch asked, frowning a bit. Scott nodded while rolling his eyes. *Well, let's go home then. I need to clean up the mess from the party.*

*You're not doing that. Kirstie could do it. She caused it.*

*Yes, but I want to clean it up so you don't have to worry about it. You already have so much on your plate. I'll do it because she might not do it. I'll just do it.*

Scott smiled at Travis, his day a million times better. Travis rubbed Mitch's back, grateful for the younger boy's personality. Mitch has been through so much yet he is still so kind and helpful to everyone, even if he closed himself off. Travis looked at his watch and gathered his stuff.

"Well, I have to go. Bye Scott, bye Mitch," Travis spoke in a sad tone. Scott and Mitch nodded as they walked out of the room, Kirstie standing in the hallway. She rolled her eyes as she got off the wall, shaking her head.

"We're wasting time because of you, Mitch. Why can't you leave faster?"

Kirstie didn't sign that at all so Mitch looked at Scott, confused. His head is tilted, wanting to know what his sister said. Scott shook his head as he glared at his sister.

I need to do something with this behavior. She needs to work on it. Mom and Dad, help me! What do I do?

Kevin came home after a long day at work, smiling happily. He finished a successful cochlear implant on a young baby today. The baby could here perfect now, all thanks to Kevin. He hasn't been this happy since Tori passed away.

"Kevin, are you home?" Avi asked, coming out of the kitchen. He smiled as he saw his husband, hugging him tightly. "I put some stuff away today. We're almost done unpacking. How was work?"

"The surgery was successful," Kevin admitted happily, laughing a bit. Avi gasped while extending his smile and hugged Kevin once more. "It's like Tori is telling us to be happy."

"Yeah, she is," Avi whispered to himself, tearing up a bit. He cleared his throat, looking at the Hoying household. "Why don't you perform the surgery on Mitch?"

"He's sixteen. The surgery might not be as effective," Kevin informed Avi sadly. "I could try, but it's not guaranteed. He might hear out of one ear or not hear at all. If he received it when he was ten, the surgery would have been more effective."

Avi nodded as he looked at the house once more. For some reason, he felt like Scott was lying about their parents. He seemed secretive when he said that they were on the older side. He felt like there was something else, something that Scott was too afraid to share.

"Kev?"

"Yes, Avi?"

Avi was about to say how he felt, but he stopped himself. That could be the truth. Maybe Scott seemed nervous when he told them his parents. Maybe it's just him being an overprotected father again. He sighed as he shook his head, looking away from the house.

"Never mind. I'll tell you later."

Kevin nodded, kissing Avi's temple. Avi smiled a little, still trying to figure out the truth of Scott's background. What happened to Scott? What happened to his parents? And the most important question that would not leave Avi's mind:

Was he telling the truth?

I will find out. I have to.
