I was woken up by people walking into the tent and workers rushing to get animals in position. One opened my cage and put a rope around my neck.
"Come on!" He yanked
I got out quickly and got into my starting position. Many animals and acts went before me. I was always the last act to go on. Save the best freak for last.
They pushed me out the door and the lights focused on me. People gasped at the sight of my horns. They started to laugh and say things about me.
"why does she have horns?" A boy asked his mother.
"Because she's a freak of nature" she replied.
I began to grow angry and let out a loud roar. Workers put cuffs with chains around my wrists. I yanked on them but they yanked back. I kept letting out loud roars at the crowd. Perhaps scaring them would be better than making them laugh. I kept yanking on the chains until I broke free. The exit was visible. I was going to go for it. I ran as fast as I could towards it. People started to scream and panic at the sight of me escaping.
"THE BEAST IS LOOSE!!" A lady screamed holding her child close to her.
I didn't like scaring people, it didn't make me feel good. It made me feel like more of a beast.
I ran far away from the tent and out into a field of tall grass. I've never been outside before. I looked up at the star filled sky. I was blown away at the sight of it. I gazed, smiling and thinking about how good it feels to finally get out of the tent. Freedom flowed through my body and I was so happy.
Suddenly, a bullet flew past my head. I quickly looked behind me and saw men with flash lights chasing after me. I started to run again, hoping to lose them in the tall grass and darkness of night.
"There she is!" One shouted
"Don't let her get away" another yelled.
Eventually I could hear their voices fading. I had finally gotten away from them but I kept running. I felt like I still had to. The field ended onto a rough platform that I had stopped at. I was afraid a to touch it. I took a few steps onto it but off to the side there was a bright light. It was coming closer and closer until..everything went black.
