That was the newspaper boy oh so carefully throwing the morning paper. I leaned back in the tub and sighed. No need getting out, I already knew what was in the news. On the other hand, I had to leave for work in an hour.

Slowly, I drained the water and stepped out of the bathroom and onto the cool tile, my long brown hair sticking to my back. I brushed out my smooth hair and wrapped it, along with my body, in a towel.

The sun shone in thru my window, tracing the edge of my dresser and leaping onto my bed. Silence was present too, but all good things come to an end. My alarm bared out its deafening bells, making me jump and almost slip. Right. Work.

I flung open my dresser doors and shuffled through the hangers to find something suitable to wear. Pencil skirt, white blouse, red heels. Ah, the stereotypical appearance of a reporter. I carefully released my hair from the damp towel and threw it up in a messy bun. "Today," I thought to myself, "today I get the front page."

"Good morning, Annie!" My secretary Juliette called out to me from her desk. I smiled and walked over to her.
"Let's see here," she said, flipping through a folder full of assignments. Her gleeful expression seemed to falter, but she masked it with a smile. "You're in the field today! Hunting for some great stories, huh?" I sighed. "You mean they don't have a story for me to cover. Wonderful. Thanks, Julie." I pulled away from her desk and wiped the stray hairs covering my eyes. With a pencil and notepad in my hand, I headed out the door, hoping to find some news, though that seldom happens.
