How could she do this to him? After all they've been through, she just up and quit on him. She's been through everything, the whole nine yards. From possession, to crashes; pointless iPod jacks, transported both angles and demons alike. Hell, she's been torn apart and put back together more times than he'd care to admit. But she was his greatest possession. His true love. His one and only.
His Baby.
Yes Baby, The Baby, died on Dean. She just stopped in the middle of the busy New York street. That wasn't stressful at all. Cas's ears turned red on more than one occasion sitting next to Dean and his sailor mouth. It was a busy two hours filled with honking, swearing, threats, and the bird. They managed to get Baby off to the sideways, and on her way to a shop to get repaired. Dean wasn't too happy about that, he's the only one who gets that up close and personal with his Baby, but there wasn't a Singer's Salvage anywhere nearby.
The only problem at hand was that Dean and Cas were three hours away from their hotel room, and Sam. The subways didn't go in that direction, so cabs were the only option. After a couple embarrassing attempts of hailing one, the two where settled in the yellow and black car. The sun was just starting to set, creating a beautiful lighting. The skyscrapers and passing parks only added to the beauty. Dean couldn't help but feel his anger and frustration slip away, and became relaxed. It wasn't so bad sitting in a semi decent cab with your best celestial-friend. Now all he had to do was distract himself from thinking of the cab bill.

It was completely pitch black. They had only an hour left until their destination, and Dean wasn't looking forward to the end.
After the sun had set, the lights turned on. Street lamps, skyscraper lights, park lamps, the whole shebang. It was then that Dean noticed the spark in Cas's eyes ignite. Cas felt himself fill with awe being so up close to the beautiful lights; artificial, and stars.
While Cas was lost in his world, Dean took his chance to take him in. He took in Cas's smile. It was contagious, but small, growing bigger with every passing building. He took in Cas's eyes, which were illuminated beyond their original ocean blue, and were almost glowing. But most of all, he took in Cas's wonder. Dean was never ceased to amazement by Cas's power to be wondered by the smallest things, things that no human would have noticed. Cas could see the beauty where there was none, and that is what Dean was always jealous of.
As Dean was captivated by Cas and his awe, he couldn't help but smile to himself. At least someone was enjoying this piss poor hell of a life.
Someone should.
Someone should be happy.
And Cas deserved it more than anyone.
And Dean would be damned if anyone tried to take it away.
