She waited, but he never came back.

She had a feeling deep down, he wouldn't return. But she had to have hope, didn't she? Poor, poor (Y/N). Too naive to see what was really happening.

Sam had been acting different lately, but she hadn't realized that. She was too caught up in her own little world, where everything was perfect. But in reality, a hunters life is far from perfect. Being with Sam blinded her from that, but with him gone, her eyes were finally open to the truth.

Sam was gone, and he wasn't coming back.

It started out as any other morning had. (Y/N) had been up for a while when Sam walked into the kitchen. She was finishing up the eggs for breakfast, Sam was looking at the newspaper, but he wasn't reading it. How could he, with what he was about to do. He never wanted to do this to her, but staying with him put (Y/N) in grave danger. He loved her more than anything, but with demons and angles hot on his tail, he had to do what ever it took to keep her safe. Even when that means breaking her heart.

Sam hadn't said anything during breakfast, he looked pained. (Y/N) couldn't tell why, but Sam was trying to mask something up by pretending to be happy. After doing the washing up, Sam locked himself in his room for about two hours. She was concerned about her boyfriend. Never in their four years of dating has Sammy acted so... strange...

In his room, Sam was baling. He was silently crying his eyes out as he packed. He loved her. God, he loved her more than anyone. Never in a billion years would he be okay with this. If there was another way, he would do this. But there was no other way, he had prayed for weeks for an answer, a sign, but nothing. So he was on his own.

Sam had packed all his clothing, weapons, and every picture of (Y/N) he could find. He would need them in the darkness of the night. She was his home, he needed something to remind him of her.

Making sure the coast was clear, he snuck through their shared house into the garage, throwing his bags in the trunk of his car. He quietly made his was back inside, but froze when he saw (Y/N). She had her back turned to him, humming as she wrote something down on the counter. He could've done it now. Tell her, man up and tell her the truth! She deserved this much!

But he couldn't. Sam couldn't break her like that. He quickly made his way to the closest bathroom, feeling tears coming. He locked himself in, and placed both hands on the glossy sink, holding him self up as he sobbed. How could he do this? He couldn't... that was the answer. Hearing (Y/N)'s footsteps, he turned on the faucet, letting the water run out of the metal pipe, drowning out his sobs.

"Sam? Honey, you alright in there?", she knocked lightly on the door.

He splashed some water on his face, running his hands slowly down. "Yeah.... I'm fine....", he started at his reflection in the mirror, disgusted.

"Ok, well, I'll just be out here then."

"Yeah, yeah, ok.", he rushed.

(Y/N) was sitting on the couch reading a book when Sam walked in, dressed in his coat and boots. She placed her marker in and set the book down.

"You alright, Sammy?", she smiled.

He fought a smile, "Yeah, oh yeah, I'm f-fine!" he paused for a moment, trying to find the right words, "I um... need to go get some more supplies. We're running low on um, bullets, so um, yeah! I'll be back... just... wait here, please."

"O-Okay, Sam," she studded and walked over to him, "but whats going-"

"Please, (Y/N)" he placed his large hands on her shoulders, "Please, trust me... I love you. (Y/N) I love you, please... please remember that."

(Y/N) nodded hesitantly, "Of course. And I love you, Sam"

Sam smiled widely, and hugged (Y/N) for the last time. Closing his eyes, he placed a long kiss on her head. He broke the hug, he had too, or else he would've started to cry again.

"Thank you (Y/N)," he started, "Thank you... for everything.... (Y/N)."

(Y/N) smiled and waved as Sam backed away from her, and walked towards the garage. He opened the door, but he couldn't bring himself to look back. Just keep running Sammy. Thats what you do best.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam backed the car onto the road, and began to drive away from her. (Y/N). The girl who gave him everything. Life, hope, love... future...
He looked into the rearview mirror, but didn't like what he saw, and ripped it off, throwing it into the back seat. Inside his breast pocket was a picture of (Y/N), and it would stay there, in his pocket, until the end of his days.
~~~~~~~~~~~

She waited.

(Y/N) waited, but he never came back.
