Jacin/Winter

Sunny Day

Winter POV
The drone of the machine doors opening filled my ears as I sauntered over to the edge of the ship's loading ramp.
"Jacin, what do you think it'll be like?" I wondered dreamily.
"The sun is warm.. so.. warm." Jacin said uninterestedly. But I could see he was staring at me from the corner of his eye. I turned to him, my tight, dark curls bouncing.
I frowned and said, "Jacin, seriously. You know I've never been on earth."
Jacin looked down slightly, and then stepped closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist and held me close. He looked up smiling; he was so close, I could see little specks of grey imbedded within his ocean blue eyes. I smiled at him, and I could see him trying to conjure up with something to say.
"The sun feels like magic. It is warm and bright, just like you. It's like nothing you can imagine, and the warmth of it is addicting," He paused. "Is that good enough?" He said, as he tightened his grip around me.
I smiled at him, wrapping my arms around his torso, then I turned to gaze out of the lunar ship. The dark metal of the machine gleamed in the sunlight, and I imagined what Earth would look like from so close. We were being dropped off in New Beijing to visit the Emperor, but we were taking a few personal days for our own. The pilot had told us that today was a particularly sunny day, and that we'd be smart to enjoy it.  I'd seen the sun before, but not from Earth. I was thrilled to experience it's fiery warmth.
"Winter, the door is open." Jacin said, pulling me towards the ramp. The door was fully open.
I skipped next to him, and soon I was the one pulling him. I dashed out of the ship, and into the field of overgrown grass and flowers we had landed upon. Instantly, the warmth of the sun bathed my skin in marvelous heat. I gasped out in happiness as I let go of Jacin's hand and stretched out my arms towards the sky. I spun around in all of its glory, and tried to commit this moment to my memory. These times needed to be absolutely preserved within my mind. I giggled with pure joy as I danced around the field relishing the feeling of natural plants around me. Jacin was running back into the ship to get the picnic basket and quilt we had brought. When he emerged, his smile was nearly as dazzling as the sun. He walked over to a spot under a nearby tree while I continued to bask in the sun's glory. He laid out the quilt on the ground and began unpacking all of the food.
I skipped over and started helping, my mouth watering from the sight of all the delicious food.
Once the food was all unpacked, we began to eat. We were eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, made just like when we were kids. They were quite messy, due to the overly excessive amount of jelly smeared on them, but tasty all the same.
Jacin and I talked about the day and reminisced about when we were kids. We also talked about the most recent music that was becoming popular on Luna. I took a bite of my sandwich and suddenly Jacin laughed at me.
    "What?" I asked, confused.
He smiled, licked his thumb, and reached close to my face. I felt him swipe at something on my cheek, and realized I had food on my face.
    "Oh." I said, laughing.
"Wait hold on I think you got something right here too." He said, humor in his eyes as he tried to touch my forehead.
"Hey-," I said as I darted away from him.
"Wait, here-" He tried again but I again twisted out of his reach.
"Winter, I'm serious." He said, faking genuity.
"Wait, you too have something on your face." I replied, putting on my best, 'I'm serious' face.
"Where?" He asked, seeming to believe me.
I leaned forward and kissed his lips. It was just a quick, teasing peck. Jacin pulled back and laughed with me, but then pulled me in for another kiss. This one lasted much longer, and was much more satisfying. He tasted like peanut butter. When we pulled back, we were smiling, but went back to eating our lunch.
"Jacin? Will you read to me?" I asked, plopping a grape into my mouth.
Jacin nodded and grabbed a book from the basket, and laid down. I laid down next to him and entwined our hands. With the sun streaming through the tree leaves, Jacin's presence, and a good book, there was no way I could have been any happier.
