El Diablo pulls up the address of the warehouse which he got using the recorded location from the phone my mother used to call me. I look back and forth from the computer screen to my phone as I punch in the address on my GPS-Locator system. He watches me as I do so and taps his fingers impatiently on the table.
"So what's this brilliant plan of yours anyway?" He asks monotonously. "Does it involve us all getting killed?" I roll my eyes.
I place a burning hand on his shoulder and classic El Diablo, trying to prove he's a macho man, tries extremely hard to not wince away and show weakness. But I can see it in his eyes that he's fighting back a squeal, and I can't help but smile at his horrible attempts.
"Why so negative, Princess?" I ask him in a sickly-sweet voice, tilting my head to the side for dramatic effect. He glares at me and a low growl vibrates the back of his throat. I remove my burning hand from his shoulder and spin on my heels. Before I get a chance to walk away, he grabs me by the shoulders and spins me around, and... pulls me into a hug?
What in the world?
"You may want to not piss off the people who are helping you, doll. You don't need any more enemies out there who want to kill you because the sign up sheet is already pretty full already." He whispers uncomfortably close to me ear. So close that his lips graze the side of my face and his hot breath snakes it's way onto my ear and down my neck, sending a shiver down my shoulders and spine, and making the hairs on the back of my neck stand on edge.
He lets go of me, spins me around so that I'm no longer facing him and roughly pushes me away. I furrow my eyebrows and allow my lips to part in shock.
What the heck?
I internally chuckle at the thought of there being a sign up sheet of people who want to kill me, but then a pang of worry nibbles at my stomach. Shit. How many people want to kill me? I brush my hand roughly through my hair.
As I'm about to walk away, a weird dizzy feeling sweeps through my head and I'm almost knocked off balance.
I grab onto the table for support and wait until it subsides.
"More than you would think," a voice says inside my head.
My body freezes and goosebumps form all over my body. I have to resist the impulse to let out a scream of mild terror.
Who said that?
"Someone who is on the other side right now," they say again. I look around the room. Nobody else seems to hear this voice.
The other side? As in Sinister's side?
"Ahh Scarlet, you're so smart. Would you like a sticker?"
No, I do not want a—wait what kind of sticker?
"Serious-"
—No, no, okay focus.
What do you want? Who are you?
"I'm an old friend. Well, not really friend but let's just roll with it. I'm also your enemy's sibling."
Hold on, hold on. Didn't El Diablo say something about that girl from a while back? What was her name?
I shake my head and make a mental note to try and remember it later.
What are you doing in my head?
I look around HQ to make sure nobody is looking at me, thinking I'm some crazy person.
