Chapter 5

Chapter 6: History of the Ki'ra Region

Now, Kato and I have this thing where in the mornings he comes to my door and tells me the agenda for the day until I get used to being lord.

I got out of bed, not really tired because I'm a morning person and fixed me something to eat while waiting for today's agenda.

I heard a knock on the door and immediately knew it was Kato. I grabbed my paraphernalia and headed on to the door.

"Hello America." We established that he didn't have to call me lord and skip all the formalities, plus I really thought it was unnecessary.

"Hello Kato, how were you last night?"

"Fine myself, you?"

"Wasn't the best but decent." I answered truthfully.

"Well to get to the point today and the next two days are going to be more laid back days. Today are the studies." He said with all seriousness.

"Studies?", I said with confusion evident in my voice. "What do we have to study?"

He laughed at me. "Well technically, I already know this stuff so it's going to be you studying. But anyways, you have to learn about the history of the Ki'ra Region because after all, we live in it. Plus you have to invite surrounding villages, rituals, trade, alliances, and a bunch of other stuff. You'll see when you get to the library."

Well I'm now Lord so now it's my job to do these things, but as long as it will help my people.

Was I going to be there all by myself?

"So are you coming with me like you usually do?"

"As much as I would love to, I can't today and tomorrow. I have perimeter patrol, but don't worry, I'll be there Friday."

"But you're head guard, who's coming then?"

"Well since Roman is second, it's required that he goes if I can't, but he is not much of a talker so I invited somebody else to go, Luna."

Luna? I had never heard that name before.

"Who's Luna?" I questioned.

"Luna? She's the caretaker for Ankoraudge, although she's only baby sitted Jeremy."

"Jeremy?"

"Oh sorry I'm getting ahead of myself. Jeremy is Braden's son, who is third in command, in case you didn't know."

Well that's was a lot to take in.

"So let me get this straight, just studying the history of the Ki'ra Region that's it?"

"That's it. Have a nice day America." He said and went ahead to fulfill his duties.

Wow. Just wow.

As I walked to the library, I just took the time to take in Ankoraudge. Although it started off as a village off the maps, it's blossoming into what could be the greatest village of all time.

At the library, it wasn't what I was expecting it to be. It was pretty much a torn down shack with makeshift shelves with unorganized books. That's one more thing I can help out with. The first thing that I noticed was that Celeste was here, which I don't know why I was surprised because she is a librarian, so I gave my greetings to her. She directed me to a table, the only table with some books set out. There was also a boy and a girl, who I assumed to be Roman and and Luna.

Luna was into her own books while Roman just sat there, so they didn't seem to notice me.

I tapped Luna lightly on the shoulder. She looked up at me and her entire face lit up.

"Lord America, is it really you? I've never spoken to a lord before. Oh gosh! Excuse my rambling. I'm Luna, the town's caretaker."

I chuckled slightly.

"You don't have to call me lord. Nice to meet you Luna, Kato has told me about you."

"He has? No one really talked about me...... Well here's Roman. Excuse him, he just started being like that."

I turned to face Roman not wanting to get off to a bad start. "Hello Roman, Kato said you'll be my guard for today...."

He looked up and glared at me. "Well duh but don't get comfortable. I'm your gaurd for today and today only."

The way your behavior is I'll gladly take that. A gift from Meredith herself. I knew what wanted to say, but it wasn't a very nice thing to do.

"Well that's fine with me." I stayed in a formal tone.

I took my seat, knowing that today was going to be a long day.
