He gives me a hug then readjusts his new circle rimmed glasses. I admit, they actually suit him very well. I love that boy.

My focus then shifts to the man next to him. "Lou." I say quietly, embarrassingly nervously even, as he gives a soft smile. "Get up and give him a hug, Louis Tomlinson." Niall commands. Niall has always been there to help. Louis stands and wraps his arms around me. His head lies against my shoulder because of our height differences. His hair smells like tropical coconut, and I love it. Sooner than I wanted, he releases me and moves over a spot on the couch for me to have a seat. "Where's Liam?" I asked while sitting down on the small sofa. "His family came to visit. He said to tell you that he's very sorry he couldn't make it today." I shrugged, "It's alright, just a birthday party. Family is what matters most." I looked over at Louis. He was sitting quietly and watching a football came on the flatscreen TV. He used to be so loud and energetic when he was younger, over time he grew silent, as did I. I miss the happy smiles and contagious laughter from him.

I sighed quietly and looked down at my torn boots. It's about time that I get a new pair, but I refuse to.

"Dinner is ready!" My mom announces from somewhere in the house. Everyone in the house moves outside. There were two long picnic tables under a pergola. The decorations were very nice with hints of red and white. The dishes were brought to a serving table and on the side was a stack of white, glass plates with utensils. We all fixed our desired meal and seated ourselves at one of the two tables. Niall and Louis, one of my best friends and half-boyfriend, sat next to me. I wonder if we even have a full relationship anymore?

Relaxing my thoughts, Louis places his hand on my thigh. My heart races as I flinch at the unexpected contact. I watched as he sipped his glass of water, his lips curved perfectly around the edge. The water stays on his soft lips, giving them a shine as he runs his tongue over them. He makes eye contact with me and I lose my breath. His eyes are so beautiful, that was the first thing I noticed about him. They're the most stunning shade of crystal blue with a hint of hazel  you'll ever see. His attention shifts back to his food, so I look over at Niall. "How are things?" I ask him. I know he can tell that I'm extremely nervous. Niall is always comforting. He's like a sweet teddy bear, always there for you to hug when you need it. "Good." He nods before taking a sip of his drink. I'm not really sure what exactly it is that he's drinking. "What is that?" I ask with a laugh. "Strawberry fizzy water. I've been trying to stay healthy lately. I've been doing all kinds of workouts." He says confidently. "Nice. I need to do that." I nod supportively. I try to eat some of my food, but I'm unsuccessful because my stomach is tied in knots. I haven't been this close to Louis in so long. I haven't tasted his lips in ages.
