3-Swimmer

Jasmine's POV
"Hi, I'm Jasmine but I prefer Jaz or JJ" I introduced myself.
As I stared into Percy's blue eyes it dawned on the that they were the same color as mine. The blonde girls,Annabeths, voice shook me out of my day dream
"When did you arrive?"
I smiled kindly and explained
"Just this morning"
"Whose your godly parent?" Percy asked.
"I'm unclaimed" I said still unfamiliar with the phrase.
"Maybe you'll get claimed at the campfire tonight" Percy giddily said.
"I sure hope so" I said wanting get away from Ky.
Annabeth had swam away and joined some friends when Percy commented on my entrance.
"That was a sick swan dive, almost as good as mine."
"Excuse me" I sassed back
"I've been swimming since I was born and I was the best swimmer in my secondary school"
He cocked his head and I remembered that I was in America.
"Sorry high school, I'm from London so...yeah" I explained.
"Ohhhhhhh" he started "but I'm a son of Poseidon"
"So?" I asked not familiar with his term
"He's the god of the sea" he stuck his chin up defiantly.
"Oh whatever" I replied grinning.
"I challenge you to a diving contest" he said confidently.
"Your going down little boy" I sassed back.
"Your like what 4 feet and younger then me." He scoffed
"I am 5 feet even and 16 and 1 month old." I crossed my arms challengingly.
"Well I'm 17 and idk like almost 6 feet" He smiled with false innocence.
"Let's do this" I narrowed my eyes.
"Annabeth!" He cried
"Come judge our diving competition"
She swam over and rolled her eyes playfully.
"What now?" She asked full of exasperation.
"Jasmine here thinks she's a better diver then me" He explained.
Annabeth shook her head before saying
"What did you get yourself into Jaz?"
"So will you...will you judge" Percy asked excitedly.
"Fine" she sighed.
"Let's just get this over with"
I think she was fed up with her boyfriends antics.
Percy and I took our place at the beginning at the dock.
"Jaz goes first as our guest" Annabeth announced. I shot Percy a look and stuck out my tongue. Then I took a deep breath and started walking quickly down the dock I started running as I launched myself off the dock. I tucked my head to my chest and flung my body weight forward, this was a basic maneuver I had done tons of times, I pulled my knees to my chest and finished the summersault with a cannonball making a biggish splash. I pushed myself off the sandy bottom and surfaced sucking in a big breath of air. "Whoooo-hooo!!!" Some people cheered. I put my arms up and shot a smile over my shoulder at a huffy Percy.
" a solid 10" Annabeth announced."
I smiled even wider and joined the small group of people. Percy started running and did a fairly decent 360 spin landing in a pencil dive. The group around me cheered and I clapped politely.
"A 9" Annabeth boomed.
Percy frowned and sulked back up the dock. I skipped behind him and gave him one of my biggest smiles. Then I started walking into a run towards the end of the dock. I blended my knees and launched myself into the water, arcing my body and putting my arms pointed in front of my head. I slid into the water at the perfect angle with my hands cutting the surface first. There was more cheering when I surfaced and I, again, swam over to the group.
"9" Annabeth announced.
"Hi, I'm Hunter."
A cute boy said with an adorable Australian accent.
"I'm Sebastian"
The adorable boy next to him said
"And I'm Toni"
The final girl introduced herself.
"Hi I'm Jasmine but I prefer Jaz or JJ" I said smiling.
"Hey new girl you're gonna want to see this"
Percy hollered drawing my attention back.
He calmly walked to the end of the dock and bent down planting his hands on the dock throwing his feet up in the air I gasped realizing what he was doing. He walked back and forth for a second in the hand stand before bending his elbows and pushing himself up leaning in a pretty good cannonball.
"A 10" Annabeth shouted over the cheering.
Percy stock his tongue out at me and spun around to climb up the dock. We took our spots for the 3rd time and prepared to do our final dive. I ran like regular and prepared to do a pike dive but when I jumped off the dock my feet slipped and I got launched sideways towards the watchers.
"Arghhhhhh" I yelled flailing my limbs.
"Look out guys" Annabeth hollered. I hit the water and a body at the same time. Our limbs got tangled as I tugged us down. After a second I re aligned myself with the surface and tugged the other person up with me. We broke the surface and I sucked in a big breath of air. We started to tread water and I realized that the person was the cute boy...Hunter I think it was.
"Are you Ok?" He asked
I laughed and replied jokingly
"I'm the one who had to pull your sorry ass up from the bottom"
He grinned back and shook his head
"I guess you lost the contest" He said pointing at Percy doing a perfect swan dive.
"Sorry Jaz, Percy wins"
Annabeth announced lifting Percy's arm.
He yet again stuck his tongue out at me and before I could do anything in response Hunter grabbed my arm and whispered in my ear.
"Don't, we can prank him back later"
I grinned and leaned in whispering back
" I like your thinking Hunter"
We shared another grin before swimming and joining the rest of the group.
"We better get out, dinners pretty soon" Sebastian said.
We all mumbled our agreement before turning and swimming to shore. Toni came up beside me and we started talking.
"What do you think about camp so far?" She asked.
"You guys are pretty nice but I'm not familiar with anything, it's a whole different world." I admitted truthfully. Toni started talking again and I half listened, zoning out on Ky, who was sitting on the sand laughing with 2 boys and a girl.
"Jaz!!!" Toni's voice shook me out of my thoughts. I looked up at her and said
"Sorry what I wasn't listening" She sighed exasperatedly and smiled shaking her head.
"I was just asking how you ended up at camp"
"Ohh" I started " I arrived about an hour ago being chased by some hell hounds"
"Wow sounds exciting" she replied as we stepped up on the beach.
I slipped on my flip flops and sunglasses and grabbed my neat pile of cloths that I had left under a tree. Then I headed to the bathroom alongside Toni.
The dinner bell rang as we were getting dressed and I returned my borrowed swimsuit before rushing to the dining area thingy.
