2 Months Later
School was about to start and I was not looking forward to it. I know it's my senior year but I don't know any of those people. All summer I was with Dominique and his friends not trying to make any of my own. But luckily I'll graduate in January.
"Bae?" JaQuan called from my bed.
"What?" I answered.
Me and JaQuan actually got close this summer. After that whole incident at Dominique's apartment he apologized and asked if we could start over. We haven't made anything official yet but it's getting there.
"Is Nanny okay?" He asked referring to my grandmother.
"I don't think so. She's been sick for a while now." I told him sitting on the bed with him.
"Go check on her."he said and I got up and went to my grandmother's room.
I knocked on her door, "Granny you okay?"
No response
I opened her door and almost instantly fell into tears. There she was, laying on the bed unconscious. I checked her pulse, it was faint. I listened to her heart and it was barely beating.
"BAAAEEE!!!!!" I called him into the room and he came running.
"Bae why--- what the hell? Call 911!"he screamed to me and I grabbed the house phone and did so.
5 Days Later
My grandmother Alice DeLores Coopson died on September 1, 2013. She had a brain aneurism. At the hospital all I could do was cry. First my brother, Trent. Then my mommy and daddy. Now 5 my grandma. I don't know why these things keep happening to me.
After the funeral Dominique and JaQuan took me to the house. There was a repass at the church but I didn't want to be around anybody.
"You okay?" Dominique asked when we got in the house.
I didn't answer. I went straight to my room and closed the door. I went into the bathroom and washed my face. I looked as if I had aged 7 years in 5 days. My eyes were bloodshot and my skin was pale. I pulled off my clothes and layed on the bed.
"Je, open up." Nicky said outside my door.
"It's open." I said not wanting to get up.
"Girl put some clothes on." She said coming in my room.
"Why?"
"Cause I said so now get up." She pulled me up by my arm and then left my room closing the door.
I got up and got in the shower. 20 minutes later I was out and drying off. I put on a white sports bra and white boy shorts. I put on a black long sleeve half shirt, gray sweat pants and so white Nike socks and my Nike slides. I put my hair in a high ponytail then I went into the living room with Nicky, Dominique, and JaQuan.
"You feeling better?" JaQuan asked me.
"A little." I layed on his lap.
"So what you gonna do about this house?" Dominique asked looking around.
"Sell it. Move in with you or J." I answered looking at the floor.
"I still can't believe this happened." Nicky said in disbelief.
"Me either. Especially with you loosing everybody else." Dominique said.
"Who is everybody else?" Nicky asked.
"My family." I told her.
"What happened to them?" She asked
"My brother Trent, was killed in a drive by about 6 months ago. My parents died in the fire in July." I said pushing back the memories and tears in my eyes.
Nobody else said anything. JaQuan comforted me. He reassured me that everything was going to be okay. I really hoped so, I can't take another loss in my life.
