A/N: I know it's starting a little slow, but I figured you had to get to know the character's a little before they fall in love. A little background never hurt.....Next Chapter is the concert scene though!!!!!

"I hate school." Lacy growled as she jumped into the car, "It's a waste of my time and it does nothing for me!"

"That's why you're still a 3rd year when you should be a 4th year." Jessica commented as she took off down the street blasting Blake Taylor

"That is not the reason." Lacy pouted, applying lip gloss to her lips.

Penn Brook Academy was a prestigious college preparatory school that required essays for admissions. Unless you're like Stacy who's dad was on the school board you're chances of getting in were slim. The admission process was a treacherous process and very competitive. The uniform there was bland and rather unstylish. The girls wore blue and gold stripped shirts with a black blazer and a blue skirt. The boys wore blue and gold button up shirts with black khakis(pocket less). The head principal was an alumni of the school and he ran it with respect and care. His name was Juan Carter, but everyone called him JC for short.  The school was separated by years. 1st and 2nd years took up Phillip Hall in the East wing, 3rd years took up Jacob Hall in the West wing, and the 4th years took up Carmella Hall in the North wing. The South wing housed the cafeteria, the gym, lockers, and the administration unit.

Jessica pulled into the school lot and joined the line of cars headed towards student parking. The school built a separate garage for the students, once you became a 2nd year you were allowed to drive as long as you had your licence. The students jumped at the chance so the school had to build an extra lot.

"I so forgot today was the math quiz in Mr. Bradley's class. I didn't even study. If I get another F my dad's taking away my credit cards." Lacy complained as she searched around for a parking spot, "Two rows down, 3rd spot."

Jessica swung into the spot with perfection and glanced at her watched it was only 6:30, first bell rang at 7:15. "Remind me why we came to school early?" Jessica asked as she gathered her things together.

"Tyler promised me he'll be here today." Lacy replied.

Jessica groaned. Ever since lacy started dating bad boy Tyler he was all she thought about from sun to sun down unless something else caught her attention. Jessica thought she jumped to fast into the relationship, but you couldn't tell lacy anything. She was stubborn and refused advice even if she needed it. Another Blake Taylor song came on the radio and Jessica turned it up, tuning out Lacy's banter about Tyler.

The tour bus traveled slowly into the city, hitting major traffic. Blake glanced out the window at the houses that lined the high way. They were big, fancy and white. All of the same. They reminded him of home and he felt that pang that hit him we he got home sick. Being on the road so much caused him to lose touch with who he was, who he wanted to be. He never meant to get this big. He never wanted to become this famous person with a million crazed fans. He remembered his best friend from Ridge Way, it was a girl named Shay. They were close and he loved how honest and open they were with each other. Things got difficult for her once he became famous. He couldn't step into the mall or the gas station without being bombarded by fans. She lost interest as his changed. He wanted to please his fans, but he couldn't please his friend. It was one or the other.

He met Miles at a dance studio. Miles was just a strange kid who could sing and dance but was shy. When Blake first heard him sing, he knew he needed him along with  him. Another voice meant a permanent opening act. He changed Miles's life that day. He didn't know it then but Miles was an orphan he worked at the studio as a job to raise money to support his self. Blake found out later when the papers had to be signed. Miles became his best bud. The only person he could trust besides Carly, but he wasn't certain if he was with her for fame or cause he loved her.

The tour bus came to abrupt stop and a few seconds later the door banged open and Barry stepped inside carrying a thick stack of papers.

"Sorry, we have to make a gas stop." Barry explained as he sat the stack down on the counter.

"Can you get some food, I can't stand the food on the bus?" Blake asked as he dragged his self out of his thoughts.

"Miles is in there now." Barry said as he stepped off the bus.

A few minutes later the door crashed open again and Miles came stumbling in carrying a load of bags.

"Got some food, this stuff on here is garbage." He said as he sat the bags down, 'We made it to Heman Hills, but we're stuck in traffic. They say it gets bad in the morning, people going to school, people going to work." Miles explained.

"I don't care about that, let's eat." Blake said as he searched through the bags.

"Ms. Lane if you don't mind will please tell me why you're talking during a test?" Ms.King asked as she circled the class like a hawk.

"I just asked for a pen." Jessica said as she glanced down on the ground.

"That gives you no reason to talk." Ms.King snapped, "I'm taking 10 points off, and you know if you fail this test, this will be the 2nd call home and if there's a 3rd I'm dropping you down."

Jessica hated this class, she had never failed at anything until she met Ms.King. Ms.King hated her, she knew it. Every class she picked on her it never failed. She always was threatening her grade and calling home for nonsense. She quickly scribbled the rest of the answers into the blank just as the bell rang. Time for lunch.

Lacy was already at her locker when Jessica made it out of class. She was standing there tapping her foot, irritated.

"What's wrong?" Jessica asked as she tossed her books into the locker and grabbed her Ipod. "Tyler never showed up." Tears welled up in Lacy's eyes, "He said we're done."

Lacy broke down into tears against the locker, her mascara causing dark streaks to line her face. Jessica grabbed her and dragged her into the bathroom.

"Lacy get a hold of yourself, the concert is in a day. Fuck Tyler. He's a jerk and he doesn't deserve the awesome Lacy you are." She grabbed hold of some paper towels and began dabbing at lacy's face, cleaning the mess, "School is about over can you hold yourself together?"

"I think so." Lacy mumbled as she washed her face, "What would I do without you?"

"I don't know, but let's go eat before the good stuff is gone." Jessica said as they walked out the bathroom arm in arm.
