Dance With Me ~ Chapter 6

Rosie’s POV

I walk out of school, more like pushed, but oh well. I take a deep breath of the air around me, just as a light breeze passes. This crazy day of school is finally over but the craziest part is yet to come.

“Rosie!” Amy yells from behind me, as she jumps onto my back. I stumble a little, but manage to hold her up. “To the bus!” She exclaimed eagerly, pointing towards our big, yellow bus.

“To the bus!” I replied, weakly punching my fist into the air as I began to walk. Sadly, our bus was the first one here, therefore the furthest away.

I finally made it there and almost fell over as she hopped off my back. She grabbed my hand and then forcefully dragged me onto the bus. As I looked around, I noticed that the bus was full. What’s even worse it that our seats are all the way in the back.

Let see what my bus “buddies” have in store for me today, I thought sadly.

“Okay, so, I am coming to your house, and I am getting you ready for your date!” Amy said, just barely loud enough for me to hear, yet still interrupting my thoughts. She walks down the aisle, leaving me no choice but to follow her.

I take slow steps, because this bus is notorious for getting you tripped. Well, for getting me tripped anyways.

“Okay, just don’t get over excited.” I say to her, and I trip over someone's outstretched foot. I look back to glare at the boy behind me; it had been of the guys that had been with Jared, the one who had I had spoken back to.

“Come on, don’t bother.” Amy muttered, helping me to my feet as the bus rumbled to life beneath me. We walked to our seat, sat down, and I set my head against the back of the seat in front of me.

“Okay! So, do you have any cute dresses to wear?” Amy questioned, “I mean, you must have one!”

“You know I don’t like to wear dresses! The only ones I have are dresses for church when mom decides to drag me there,” I told her, “When we get there, why don’t you go find me a dress in my closet and if you can find one, I’ll make us a snack, ok?”

“Sure, but I am doing your makeup and hair, because you can’t go on your first date without making a fuss!” Amy giggled and all I could do was give in. I mean I don’t really a choice, you do NOT say no to Amy.

“Okay, I suck at putting makeup on anyway,” I say and lean back, the first stop is mine anyways so when the bus rumbles to a stop in front of my house I stand up quickly, “Come on!” I say and pull Amy from our seat.

“Yay!” She squeaks as we walk up the steps to my front porch. My parents are almost always working so we’ll be alone. I unlock my door quickly and Amy bounds past me and up the stairs to my room. I chuckle at how she’s even more excited then I am and it’s my first date.

I find my legs leading me to the kitchen but I don’t object since I’m starving. I put a bag of popcorn in the microwave and lean against the counter as I listen to the popping sound it makes.

“You have no dresses!” Amy yells down the stairs, peaking her head out of my bedroom door with a small frown on her face. I just roll my eyes at her and laugh.

“Well don’t say that I didn't tell you,” I grab the finished popcorn and I run up the stairs. I come in to find Amy digging through a mound of clothing in the middle of my room and my eyes nearly pop out of my head.

Oh my god, she destroyed my closet, it had been so neat!

“Popcorn!!” Amy shrieks not noticing that I was standing there, frozen, gaping at the mess she had made, “I have decided to give up on your closet, for now, and go ahead and do your hair and makeup after you take a shower!” She said grabbing my hair brush and a bag of accessories that are going to make my head feel like a bowling ball. Amy then leads me to the bathroom.

“Wait, how much of that are you going to use?” I ask her, stepping into the bathroom.

“Most of it!” She exclaims and shuts the door. I sigh and shake my head, stepping into the shower and turning the water on. I let the hot water run down my body for a little while as I put on shampoo and conditioner. I then shut off the water and step out into the steamy room, wrapping my bath robe around me. After taking a towel and drying my hair a bit, I open the door only to be pushed onto a chair by Amy.

“Come on,” she says, “We have no time to lose!” she starts to brush through the bird’s nest I call my hair.

“OW!!” I yell as she finishes yanking the brush off one of the knots in my hair. I reach my hand back to touch it and it actually felt nice and soft. Amy places my hand back on my lap and begins pinning up the waves and curls. She finishes and turns the rolling chair so that I am facing her. She tilts my chin up and starts to put blush, eye shadow, and lip gloss on me. She did so with a steady hand and a light appliance.

“What will I wear?” I ask her. She looks at me with a thoughtful face and stays silent.

“Put on your contacts while I find you a dress,” She commands and skips back to my closet. She then goes back to digging through my clothing as I put in my contacts. Yay! I can see!

“Found one yet?” I ask her hopefully as I sit back onto my bed looking at my watch. I only have twenty minutes before he is supposed to get here.

“Yes!!” She squeals and pulls out a red dress from the corner of my closet, “Why didn’t you tell me you got this?”

“Mom got it for me a while ago, but I forgot about it cause again, I don’t wear dresses.” I say and really look at it for the first time. The dress is a velvet red and has a strap on one side, and a sleeve on the other. The fabric at the sleeve is layered as is the waist and down. Most of the fabric is bunched up in certain parts to show some of my legs, yet it still keeps the design elegant. It also has a red ribbon around the waist that ends in a bow.

Wow, I thought, It really is pretty, beautiful even.

“Well, get into it!” She yells, handing me the dress. I slip it on and put the simple, red, strap, heels that she gave me. She hands me my red purse which contains some extra money, my ID, and several other things I am going to need.

“Um, how do I look?” I asked her and put a hand on my hip.

“Go take a look yourself!” She says dragging me to my door mirror and when I look into it I can’t believe my eyes.

The first thing I think is that that can’t be me. I mean the girl in the mirror is beautiful. Her makeup has been done to perfection making her face look very delicate and pretty yet making her eyes look fierce with the some coal black eye liner. The dress she’s wearing does wonders to her body, making her waist look thinner and her legs look longer. The only thing that shows that this really is me is the shocked expression on her face.

“You look beautiful,” Amy whispers, looking into the mirror over my shoulder.

The door bell rings, interrupting our quiet conversation.

“Your first date!” Amy squeaks, pulling me down the stairs and towards the front door.

“It’s not my first,” I lied as I smoothed my dress. She rolled her eyes, knowing I was lying, before giving me a quick hug and running up to my room. I giggled, opening the door as I take in a quick breath.

WOW...
