Only Child

Chapter 9: Mary

Katherine was seemed to only have a few days left to live. It was figured out that her sickness was asiatic cholera. Her seizure the night before pointed to that as the only cause. At about 162 centimeters she now only weighed about 40 kilograms. She has lost 9.97 kilograms since she had first gotten sick.

Katherine was getting as much fluid in her as much as she could to keep her going. A week later she showed improvement and in a month she had recovered with full health. It was the week before the twins turned eighteen that Mary was stuck seventeen forever.

Mary and Timothy went on a walk the one day to a beach. That very day when they got back they would tell everyone about how they were together. Everything was going well until she slipped and smacked her head on a rock. This caused an instant death not so painful as the ones that were thought of. Timothy sat there trying to wake her up. He eventually ran back to the house to get Valentine and Maximilian to where their daughter now laid dead. Valentine dropped to the ground it was as though you could hear her heart shatter and death and depression sink in. Maximilian only stood there in shock.

The funeral was held on May 5th just days away from Mary's 18th birthday. Katherine was so full of hate and despair. For she was betrayed by her own sister. The only person she thought she could truly trust in this world. Katherine and Timothy soon became a well known thing. A year later, Katherine became cold with everyone. Including her parents and the Dantéses. She would barely say anything as weeks would go by.

One strange night she left the house with the words, "You shall not look, for I am found. You shall not worry, I am safe. You shall only wonder, 'Will she come for me?'" With that she left with kisses on the heads on her parents and walked out of the house with a pistol in her hand. She went into Timothy's house that he had built for himself and without an answer after knocking, walked in.

"It is that you watched me suffer and did nothing of it but only made it worst by helping my sister go against her word. I have became wiser and stronger hopefully you will do the same." Katherine said and before he could respond shot him in both legs to be left to die.
