A/N: Happy new year everyone!
I couldn't believe it worked.
Not that I was looking a gift horse in the mouth as my mother would say, I just couldn't believe a fake ID really worked in a high-security place such as the Soul Society.
Yet, here I was, inside the Soul Society.
The academy was the first place I had the pleasure of passing. The school sprawled over several miles long, with different culturally designed buildings.
It was beautiful, and that wasn't even enough to describe such a wonderful place.
Unfortunately, I didn't see much since I was stuck on the outskirts, but it still felt surreal. Once I made it passed the main gates, it was pretty easy to find the thirteen divisions.
The only problem was, I had no idea which of the 13 court divisions I was currently in. Reading a map wasn't really my strongest trait, I was sure I was heading the right direction, but each time I would end up at dead end.
I pulled out my phone again, and went over the map. This time I took in a better overview of my location and that printed on the map. If I was correct, I somewhere between the tenth and ninth division.
Thankfully, I hadn't draw any attention to myself, it seems if you walk around like you belong no one questions you. Well that and I guess my acting skills wasn't too shabby as well.
"You there!" I heard a voice call from behind.
Once again, Whitney, you tooted your horn too soon.
I took a deep breath and forced myself to turn around, if I did anything out the ordinary, it could cause me trouble.
The voice belongs to a male soul reaper, fairly taller than I. His hair was swept back with a white band across his forehead. I noticed the insignia sewn on his upper garment belong to that of the tenth division.
"Who are you?" He stood fully upwards, his presence alone emitting an air of authority.
I stood up straight, fearing any wrong movement could cause any doubts. "Twenty seater Uzumaki of the sixth division sir!"
Totally a ripped off from Naruto, but hey what could I say it was one of favorite animes growing up.
He looked me up and down, before scratching his beard and taking a look of intense concentration, as if he was trying to figure out what to say.
"What's a sixth division member doing over here by the tenth division's barracks? " he points out.
"I was on my way back to the sixth division," I say in dread, mentally cringing as his face drew into a deeper frown.
"Your division is back the opposite way, why are you all the way over here?"
Think. Think. Think.
"I was admiring the scenery, and got lost in time," I mange to say, trying to think of a convincing lie. "I'm a recent graduate, so I apologize for wondering too long."
He stared at me for a while, not even mumbling a word, and I begin to contemplate rather or not I should attack him. I'm almost sure I can get the ups on him before he could call for back-up.
"I see," he finally says. "Sorry about the third degree, can't be too careful these days."
"No worries, I completely understand. " I couldn't help but feel a since of pride that my lie actually worked.
"I'm seven seater Takezoe, if you ever need anything just ask."
"Thanks, I'll remember that."
I turned to leave hoping that was the end of that conversation, but I felt his hand grasp my shoulder.
